Some people said you can't drop these, you probably can't. Granted, the max are 25lb, so why would you need to?
I'd say my impression on durability is 4 out of 5, seems solid, but not like they feel like they'll last a lifetime. I think it's just about use - how in the world could these ever breakdown if you just used them for their intended purpose? I can't imagine a scenario where I'd have to replace these over the next 5 years or buy other dumbbells in this size range.
For me, I really like that I didn't pay more $ for a higher weight range, because I don't want a 5lb-50lb set. I just want this for ancillary workouts to my main lifts. The tradeoff in this product is it's max 25lb, not that it's low build quality, and that's the trade I wanted to make.
EDIT: Btw, TU for the deal and repped. This is a great price for what you get. I also work out with a pair of Bowflex 552 dumbbells, but I think I might pick up these CAPs as well. The 552 plates are so dang big; the CAP might be good for high-rep burner sets.

answering my own question, looks like Kettlebell gives more exercise:

Hope this helps.
Edit: Shorter rests between sets is also a way to get more out of the weights you have.

The sweet spot's probably a mix of the two, but I ended up sticking with traditional bells..

Between Cap and Kettelbells, if you have really tight space, the Kettlebells win taking only half the horizontal space of these dumbbells. Per arm, you can do 40lbs vs. only 25lbs with these dumbbells so these Kettlebells win for upright rows, and minor muscles like curls, tricept extensions. However, more important compound exercises for the core that involve both arms, Cap wins for deadlifts or squats simply because the total weight is 50lbs. Cap wins again for chest, another big compound exercise utilizing the full 50lbs weight. One kettlebell would be very awkward for chest presses or flys.
So in summary, the Kettlebell wins for isolation of the minor muscles. But for the major muscle groups, Cap wins out.
