The sad part it even the Slickdeals editor doesn't know how nonsensical that description is.

And just to clarify for everybody, it's a USB-C charging block. It has no USB-A port. It does not come with a cable. It can fast-charge an iPhone using a USB-C to Lightning charging cable.

I have seen these sporadically at TJ Maxx/Marshalls/Sierra stores in my area for $12.99. Actual Apple USB-C, original retail packaging, hand to God.
(No Apple cables though)

But if you need something for Saturday, this is a good sure thing

You are not wrong, I was blown away too but after further research it was the older 18w and not the current 20w but both work about the same

Oh that makes sense. Couldn't understand why they were showing up at TJ Maxx. Seeing Beats headphones sometimes too. Not to mention that for years The TJX stores have stocked many of the same Speck and other third party cases that the Apple stores sell, for half of the price or less

This is a good deal, but why wouldn't I just get the Anker bundle from Costco (https://www.costco.com/anker-powe...94170.html)
Because if you ever decide to use MagSafe your iPhone won't charge at the full speed. It will only charge at like 5 or 10w or something like that

I think this only applies to MagSafe wireless charging and not wired charging.

****this is incorrect information and I apologize. As long as you have the correct spec charger you can get the full charging speed via MagSafe with a 3rd party charger.

That's not correct. There are plenty of tech journalist tests on the web and YouTube that have shown otherwise. It's all about being able to deliver the right amperage at 9V (if I remember correctly, it's 9V at 2.2A), which these do. These Anker chargers deliver the same 18 watts via magsafe that the apple charger does, and they're about half the size.

Yes in fact I saw a comparison on YouTube when the 12s first came out showing the Anker was actually slightly faster than the Apple 20W brick!

where on the iphone does it say that it's actually fast charging other than using a stopwatch and looking at the % indicator?

It does't. There is no special indicator. If you are using a properly rated charger and cable for your particular device that supports fast charging it should charge to 50% in 30 minutes. That's how you'd know it's working or not.

I'm wondering if the original apple charger and cable is able to negotiate charging current/voltage better with Apple devices. That's the only reason I'd buy this over other smaller or cheaper options.
