New app user is defined as someone who has not made any Newegg App purchases within the past 12 months from the last date of an app purchase (if any)
Offer only applies to an order totaling at least $10 and including products sold by Newegg.com (look for "sold by Newegg.com" on product detail page). Products sold by third-party sellers or other Newegg entities will not qualify for this offer, even if "fulfilled by Newegg.com".
Offer does not apply to Digital Downloads or Gift Cards.
Newegg is shady. But if you will be buying from them anyway, it amounts to $5 off each of two purchases, since you're only getting value by buying a second time.

I agree. Pretty shady even if it works out. At least they aren't requiring a rebate to be mailed in. Hope they don't see this and get the idea.

How is newegg shady? I never had an issue with them ever
well, lets look at the great rebate fiasco a couple of years back where they had mega FAR. after everyone was loaded up they tried to screw over the rebate processor who in turn really screwed them over by holding the rebate data base of who submitted what and who was paid what. many people never got all of their rebates, though a few got extra rebates as they didnt know who submitted what or who was paid.
if you purchase from a 3rd party and have a problem you are on your own and they wont help you with the them. amazon will hold a 3rd party responsible with proof.

The promotion gift card have an expiration date.
I bought something with the promotion gift card. After I return that item, it took a long time to process the refund and the gift card portion is lost because it passed the expiration date. The only explanation was "they can't do anything about it".
Was going to buy it from Amazon but will take the $10 promo from app purchase. I never had a problem with Newegg purchases and have done some returns over the years without any issues.

There are masses of threads on reddit and I've chronicled my bad history with them repeatedly over the years on SlickDeals. Once you receive a bad CPU, or mobo, or received damaged RAM because they ship it in an envelope... you will see how nasty and stubborn they get. They even tried stealing $5 from me on that RAM issue and it took months to get it back.
Besides that, they are fine....
