Is it that time of year again where I will spend money on awesome games that I once loved with a passion but will never actually get the time to play again because I work 60 hour weeks and have, at best, 1/4 of the energy that I once had in those blessed times? *sigh* In for one. Or probably more than one. Let's be honest, I'll probably buy all the ones I don't have yet.

Cheers to childhood days and all those who loved these games as much as I did.
I thought I was crazy to have this retirement goal ! I'm glad someone else shares this dream ! Only 30 more years to go !
Ah the nostalgia. I played every Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana etc. on NES and SNES. What a great childhood memory that was. Turn-bases RPGs and all the grinding for level, exp, gold. Not in-app pay to win or pay for items like what kids these day are used to.
If I have to pick 3 games, it will be

- Chrono Trigger
- Final Fantasy 6
- Dragon Quest 5

Final Fantasy Tactic came very close. Another great game from that era that is not on the list and I don't think it has been ported/remastered is Tactic Ogre: Let us cling together. It's similar to FF Tactic but it was the original. You can probably find an emulator and ROM somewhere for PC.

I'm looking forward to retirement to play all of the games which came out after childhood that seem interesting.

How are faithful to the originals do these adaptations feel? That is, is Chrono Trigger like how it was on SNES, or is it a general adaptation of the story, but the gameplay, graphics, etc. are different? I'm looking at some video reviews and it seems similar, but definitely different.

"This War of Mine" is incredibly good, if you like dark introspective games with a challenging survival structure

If you are a youngster and never played an old school Square RPG like Secret of Mana or Chrono Trigger, now is the time to pull the trigger on true classics.
