Well, I don't know why they test eyesight every time I need to renew my license but they do.
Many US citizens take their citizenship for granted and are totally oblivious to the value of being a US citizen. US passport is a priceless document. People are literally dying for an opportunity to become a US citizen. It deserves respect
As aksays drive 30min to an hour to rural locations. USPS offices in rural towns are not as crowded.

can we just maybe dispense with all the drama about the drivers license in your state? if we wanted to know about it, we're not going to ask you because you honestly don't know and you probably don't even live there....are maybe you have special rules because of something you've done or who you are. in case you didn't know it, there's a guy by the name of pence who used to run your state and he didn't like people like you from outside the country; he made the rules different for you. the dl information is available online to tell us all about how to renew the drivers license online and even though IN is somewhat of a backwards state, it's 2021 so even IN doesn't force people to show up for a dl renewal no exception. get familiar with IN laws here, did you think we couldn't just google it for the facts?

You can renew the following credentials online ONLY if you meet the conditions listed below each:
You have a driver's license with or without a motorcycle or For-Hire endorsement.
You are a citizen of the United States and an Indiana resident.
There is no change in your name, residential address or other personal information.
Your previous renewal transaction was completed in a BMV branch.
Your driver's license is not expired for more than 180 days.
You are not required to take an exam.
You are within 24 months of your renewal date.
You are under 75 years of age.
Customers 75 years of age or older, who have submitted a vision screening from your licensed ophthalmologist or licensed optometrist and intend on renewing within 30 days of the screening, may also renew online or at a BMV Connect kiosk.
Please have your licensed ophthalmologist or licensed optometrist fill out a Vision Screening Documentation – State Form 56520, and then submit it to the BMV at [email protected].

Passport Card is just for those very few who don't want to bring their passport for domestic travel, and don't want to bother getting a real id from the state.
Not true. Passport card is also valid at land border crossings. If you live close to Mexico or Canada and go fairly often this is way more convenient than the book
I don't think so. I had to go to BMV when I renewed in September. I don't think there was an option for online. It could be because I am not US citizen.
