3 year warranty compared to 5 year with most competitors.

Super slow in moving large amounts of data, things like cloning. Took 39 minutes to clone a 220GB system drive to it, vs 11 minutes for a MX500.

QVO is Samsung's QLC line.

QLC is 4 bits per cell. It means that Samsung needs only 4 trillion physical cells to make a 2TB drive, whereas a mainstream TLC (3-bit) drive will need 5.3 trillion physical cells to make a 2TB drive. So it's slightly cheaper to manufacture.

The problem is that 4-bit QLC requires twice the electrical precision as 3-bit TLC (need to discern 16 voltage states vs. 8). This means that the cells are more fragile (lower longevity) and need more care when reading and especially when writing (slower).

The trouble with stuffing more bits into a cell is that the benefit is linear (+1 bit each level), but the downside is exponential (double the electrical precision each level).

No, it's not MLC. Okay, fine, technically, the M in MLC is "multi", so 2-bit MLC, TLC, and QLC are technically all forms of MLC. But 99% of the time, when someone says MLC, they mean 2-bit MLC, and there is one major SSD manufacturer (starts with Sa, ends with ng) whose marketing department purposefully muddies the water and uses "3-bit MLC" instead of "TLC" and "4-bit MLC" instead of "QLC", to capitalize on the fact that when people search and look for the "MLC" keyword, they're expecting 2-bit. No other major SSD brand pulls this kind of bullshit.

I've heard some new mx500s have a different controller now, and it's slower. So watch out when buying those.

They applied the discount in the cart.. with no problem.

but when I was confirming the total after putting in my payment info, I was surprised to see that the discount had been removed.

I finished the job for them and removed it from my cart.

Promo code worked fine here.

EDIT:
Just checked my email and the promo code and SSD are in the mass email Newegg ad they sent out to everyone at 4am.
All 5 accounts got it, so not some random code that only a few get.
It might not have been active yet for some since email was just sent out?

as mentioned, you had to have rec'd the code - it's not clear you can subscribe now and apply the code, I'm sure folks will respond either way

afaik, this is the lowest 2TB brand name SSD. Think a while ago some lesser known 2tb went for 135-ish on amazon, with many up-votes.

I had to look this one up. It seems to have the same performance as EVO in most cases but can be slightly slower in some others. The life expectancy is much shorter in terms of the maximum P/E cycles.
