You have what's called an APS-C or crop sensor. The sensor is physically smaller than that of a full frame camera or 35mm film camera. To get the equivalent focal length, multiply the focal length by 1.5x times. The 30mm 1.4 would be equivalent to a 45mm on you camera. That's pretty close to to your standard lens cameras used to come with and that portraits have been taken with for nearly a century. That would be my recommendation out of this list. It would be a nice do-it-all lens as well.

No need to call kit lenses a piece of crap. They've gotten quite good over the years. Do I still wish I would have got a nifty fifty instead of a zoom kit lens with my first DSLR? Sure but there's also days I'd take a kit super zoom lens over my expensive f/2.8 glass for certain types of professional work.

Sigma 45/2.8 is a great deal at this price. It is designed for beautiful rendering and bokeh unlike generic f/2.8 zooms. It is going to be less sharp than your zoom lenses and AF-C doesn't quite work because of SA, but it will produce beautiful images. AT $250 this lens is a steal.

any comments on the 45mm prime? So cheap so I'm reluctant
From the reviews that I have watched, it doesnt look like a lens for me. Its soft from close distances, in order to have softer out of focus rendering.

That is not the lens for me.

The Sigma 28mm 1.4 Art looks amazing for this price. Here is a review.

Would this lense even be worth it for an A6000?

I'm a noob as well but in this world it's about your preference and usage. Best way is to shoot and see what lens you would yearn for most. That said, I enjoy the Sigma 16mm and Sony 18-135mm for most of my usage.

It's a very popular prime in the Fredmiranda community. It's not the sharpest but has a very creamy out of focus area. None of the f2.8 zooms has that kind of look. There is an impression thread with lots of pictures. It's a nice, small walk around lens. I really wanted to try it but it's too close to my Rx1rii which I carry around everywhere I go.

For the camera beginners, its more important to get to know your camera rather than spend the money on an expensive lens. A professional can take great photos with a cheap lens using the right camera settings. I don't think a good lens is going to help a beginner who puts the camera on auto settings all the times. Use the money on a few camera lessons or books.

This is what I felt. Pretty great deal on a really well liked and reviewed lens! So, of course I had to get one. Damn slickdeals 🤣 Can't wait to shoot with it. Been in the market for a deal on a 50mm for a while and this 45mm is pretty much perfect for what I wanted. Thanks for the post!

How is anyone supposed to answer that when we have no idea what you'll be using it for?

The 18-135mm is not a Kit Lens (retails for ~$650 by itself) - it's the 16-35mm that's usually thrown in the box (which was one of the most atrocious lens I've ever used on my previous A6000....the lens of my Canon G9X point-and-shoot produces way sharper images). That 18-135mm he said he received with the camera was perhaps something that the retailer bundled for a small discount, or he bought the gear used from someone.
