FYI, WD will soon be announcing the SN850X update of this drive. Most likely with upgraded specs.
Thanks OP. That SR71 was alot faster than a B-52.laugh out loudLMAO Even in a crash dive with the wings ripped off!

This is the one folks!

The 1TB was $144 at its' lowest point in the space time continuum.

This also comes with a free heat sink.

Anyone have any experience with running the sn850 with heatsink and having heat problems? NAScompares did a comaprison with other heatsinks and the WD ran the hottest....

Thinking of getting the 850 w/o heatsink from Amazon and ordering the Sabrent heatsink cover...

Note this sale is timed perfectly with the announcement of the first PCIe 5.0 drives. Yes, it'll take a while, but it's like clockwork.
I should wait since i need the latest and greatest.

Its speed would be wasted if it's just storing games, a slower drive would be just as fast. I got the 1TB drive to be the OS drive for a new build.
It would be wasted playing games too. Use it for the stuff that can really benefit.

Hmm….now you've got me wondering. 850 2tb or 980 pro 1tb for my PA5?

these nvme drives that support 7000mb are a bit pricey. my logic was, buy the 1tb now. best bang for buck. and in a few years when/if i actually need the storage space, then upgrade to 2tb drive when it cost the same as a 1tb drive now. i mean with a 1tb drive you have a total of like 1.8tb of storage between the 2 drives. thats at least 18 games if each game is 100gbs. on top of that, i dont think i ever had more than 10 games installed at once on my ps4 (had a samsung 1tb 850 pro ssd).

They've been out of RMA drives for a while so if yours breaks, you're SOL and no money back after 30 days.

Been waiting 3 months for a replacement

I can attest to this. SN750 crapped out on me, took a month to get it registered at Western Digital's website, then waited from early Nov til now for a replacement that is "ready to ship". The replacement has not left the warehouse in a week yet they have stock of drives on their retail site.

RMA process hell. Telephone and chat support are complete crap. Be forewarned, even if you go from level 1 to level 2 tech to supervisor from abroad when you call, their resolution is always the same - "we will escalate the case and contact the team concerned". It's a never ending cycle of frustration.

Better Business Bureau complaints don't get responded to for about a week or 2 either so you're gonna need the patience of a saint and then some for a real resolution. Western digital's registration and RMA process have completely gone down the drain.

Great deal if you need 2TB right now. I ordered at first but decided to cancel just now because I really don't need 2TB extra storage for my PS5. Will get a 1TB one instead when the next deal comes around

Ah ha... "NewEgg" turned over data without being forced to do so. They didn't even put up a fight. They also turned that data over without telling their customers. Fantastic moves. Way to respect and build the trust of ones customers. I'll happily continue to remind people of "NewEgg"'s sh*t behavior, and continue to recommend pretty much ANY other retailer over them. I'm not alone in that respect either. I see plenty of criticism of "NewEgg" on SD, especially centering around their abhorrent return policies and procedures.

I criticized NewEgg, and you appear to have had your feelings hurt. Perhaps on their behalf? I simply pointed out facts. This is nothing against you personally. So, probably best not to take it that way. I've seen plenty of your deals on SD over the years and they've been great. I don't even KNOW you lol. Why would anyone take someone's criticism of a massive corporation personally. Puzzling. Maybe because others might thumbs down, and decrease the number of imaginary internet points this post gets? Wow.

Also, where someone lives has nothing to do with someone's knowledge of whether a company is private or public. The fact that you have to resort to insults/slights reflects rather poorly on you LOL, and is quite telling. Sad really.
Someone really is taking this personally, but it's not sr71.....

Why are you spending your Christmas arguing with people on the slickdeals message boards about an online retailer? Confused
