If anyone wants to fully convert their Tmobile oneplus 8 to global then follow this guide. I bought mine a while back that was tmobile unlocked and was able to convert it to global. Only real advantage vs stock is you get security updates faster and none of the tmobile bloatware in it. Previously it will always seem to break the google play store certification unless you relock the bootloader. This guide tells you how to relocked it in the end to set it as global version while passing safetynet. For those that don't know, without passing safetynet or being certified by google play store, you would not be able to download netflix or use google pay for NFC. This guide will allow you to do that. So far the phone's been working great and the price at ~$200 is great since you still get security patches from oneplus until 2023. Hope this helps!

I did mine the other day without any problems. You have to get your bootloader unlocking token from OnePlus to unlock bootloader. It takes 7 days for that after you apply.

BACKUP EVERYTHING YOU WANT TO SAVE, YOU CAN USE THE PHONES GOOGLE BACK UP OR Google 1. UNLOCKING BOOTLOADER WILL ERASE EVERYTHING.

Make sure you add TWRP to make a backup of your modem and the other file Incase you need them. I didn't need them as 5g and my fingerprint reader worked fine.

Use TWRP to put your phone into EDL MODE to be able to use MSM TOOLS

Using studentbean discount to work is a huge pita. Took me like 20/30 tries to make it work. Try this. No AdBlock, go to your account. Click on discount program from list on left. Should show verification status as verified. Make sure you have validtimes 1/3 or more. Then click on view. Then scroll a bit to select your offer section. Click shop now in education program. Scroll down. You should see 'congrats...' scroll more to see list of phones. Click on oneplus8, make sure it says $237.66. now select color. Don't click add to cart or buy now. Select 'Price Details' that on left bottom. Brings a popup with price 237.66. click add to cart in that popup. Click continue. Takes you automatically to cart sheet animation. Should show $237.66 in cart. If not, delete item from cart, try all steps incognito, or delete cookies, or new browser. Good luck!!

I don't think so. Student discount didn't take the full advertised % off. It was more like $13 extra off. I'm sure the Teacher/etc one is the same.
