I wouldn't even bother with this, tbh. Way too many things that will go wrong. 10-12 weeks with only a 30 day return policy. They'll claim they never received your mail and you're out of luck.

you obviously don't understand how rebates work, you submit the rebate w/ your UPC once you've determine it works! once you clip the UPC you're ineligible for return anyway.

keep copies of the submissions, people who fail, never read the plain English directions.

thank you. I was getting quite heated about this myself. I checked the website but did not search for coolers so whatever i was looking at had no open box option and I did not realize it exists.

I have done many rebates over the years, and I always tried to do what you are talking about, and I have yet to have one rejected. However, this was my first rebate in about 4 years, so who knows if they changed it. If you are worried about resale, I do not think the extra few millimeters of cardboard would make that much difference. I suspect these rebate companies go through hundreds or thousands of these rebate type things per day, so as long as it looks legit, I would say you have nothing to worry about.

However, my rule with rebates was always to assume it would never get paid out, so I tried to stay away from large ticket items. With this rebate, I am breaking that rule wide open lol.

You can't even do this with this rebate, the UPC is printed on the box itself, it has to be cut out.

Depending on how thick the cardboard is, sometimes you can just peel off the top layer(s).
