Pro tip, if you have an extra set of spring clips you can put them on the inside and it should give you enough space for your knuckles to clear the plates

Other pro tip, I usually throw a 5 and 10 or two 10s on the inside and invert the heavy plates out. This also gives my knucks enough clearance.

From the reviews:
- Design flaw: very little gap between plates & grip handles. Tight fit to get a grip, and then your knuckles may rub against the plates.
- The sleeves are a tad too large, and your plates may not fit. Several recent reviews post that bumper plates with tight tolerances do not fit on the bar.
- Some had poor weld quality and the bar actually broke off at the weld points under weight
- Some had poor material and the bar bent under weight

Basically, for about $65 this is a hit or miss. If you get a good one where welds are good, all your plates fit properly, and don't mind working around the design flaw - then you may like it.

I bought one recently and it has a spacer. I read this is new and fixes it. No issues here with use

So do I as long as it's not exaggerated to make a good product look bad or vice versa

I bought this a few weeks ago for the same price. It works with my Wright Equipment crumb bumper plates. Also had the included spacer. Been great for me.

My everyday essential bumper plates did not fit. The paint coating is what made it not fit. I will have to strip the paint off to get them to fit.

I'm 6 1 and actually find this to be slightly nit wide enough. My iron plates slide on fine and have good welds. No knuckle rub. Still a little concerned my EE bumper plates I ordered might not fit but I'll wait and see

A product not fitting your need doesn't make it a bad product though does it? .
A standard bumper plate not fitting does indeed make it a bad product. There's a reason there's standardization.

Got mine for Christmas during the $60 sale. Not bad, definitely has rubber spacers that look like an ongoing retrofit based on customer feedback. Still not assembled so I can't comment on function, but the general weld/build quality looks to be at least as good as the other CAP gear I own…so, "passable"

So you're saying the 92% positive reviews are not using standard bumper plates and only 8% are?

Never buy black!!! Paint chips very quickly with the friction of weight plates. Looks like garbage very quickly. If you don't care about that, hex bars are the way to go and the price is reasonable.

I found this one to be a better design for me because it can be flipped to use the lower handles for deeper lifts:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Everyd.../854951138

I've had it for 2 years, and it's one of my favorite pieces of equipment in my gym. I'll usually start with the handles lower, and then switch to the higher handles at the end for a couple more good-form sets.

I specify better "for me" because, like some others here, I'll now only go to medium weight with regular barbell deadlifts, but very heavy with hex. For legs, I alternate between squats, hex lifts, and leg press, sometimes with dumbbell lunges at the end.

It's priced a bit higher right now, but goes on sale occasionally for less.

I bought this a few months ago and it works for what it is. I prefer using this for squats. Deadlifts are kinda awkward. I don't have any of the issues mentioned earlier
How do you squat with this? Awkward. I thought, this was for deadlifts and shrugs.

I think it was a subtle joke, since the move is the same thing with a trap bar. But I'm guilty of finding humor when it was unintentional Wink

As mentioned by others it does not fit Bumper Plates. The problem is these weight holders are 2" diameter. They should be 1.960" which is standard for all Olympic bars.
I ordered before reading and discovered this after assembling it. Oh well not messing with sending it back. It does work with most Cast Iron Weight Plates.

Handles too close to the plates, plus bolt-on weight pegs (vs welded), plus no option other than the b!tch handles (named that way b/c you lose about two inches in range of motion by gripping that high)… all equal a hard pass from me. Grab a traditional hex bar and you get multiple grip/ROM options, and room to grow when you start deadlifting heavier. These bolt on weight pegs tend to bend with heavier weight.
