In order to swap cards and avoid re downloading all your games:

1. POWER OFF the switch (not sleep mode, all the way off)
2. Remove SD card, pop in new one
3. Boot system and format SD card
4. Power off again and remove
5. USING A PC, copy all the files from the old SD card to the new one
6. Put new SD into Switch and power on

For a single user, it's an alright deal if you need the SD card. $20 is the standard price for an individual online membership so the card would cost $15. Family plan is meant for sharing so you could add on a few folks to take advantage of your online membership and even charge them a few bucks like another SDer suggested.

This doesn't include the expansion pack upgrade which is a separate cost. The upgrade gives you access to all game expansion packs for free in addition to official Sega and N64 emulators.

From looking at the Nintendo website, it looks like if you get this and want to go back to the cheaper individual plan you'll need to let your family plan expire and then buy an individual plan, as there's no automatic way to transition from family -> individual. As I only have 1 switch, I think I'll avoid the hassle and stick with individual.

You can not stack it with the family plan + expansion. They are different plans

From what I can tell, the redemption isn't linked to your account since its redemption code from Best Buy. The redemption can be done on a Switch or a Browser where you would need to log into the Nintendo Account. Hope that helps.

they give you their nintendo account email, you log into your online family account and you simply enter their nintendo account email to your family plan.

They'll get online access and wont affect your switch, games or anything.

yes you can, since this deal is a standalone purchase and nothing is activated from purchase. So yes you can buy this deal and give the main account holder the code to extend the family plan another year.
