it is automatic vs semi-automatic.
if you know what you doing, the Breville 870 is a heck of machine for the price (the only reason i upgrade to a Rocket Mozzafiato is due to 870 aren't build to last after 10 years of use). for those who do espresso correctly, i don't think any automatic machine can outperform 870 or decent semi-automatic espresso machine. different beans/roast/shelf time requires different settings, and there is no way a full automatic machine can adjust to those factors automatically.

that said, i'd say most people don't know how to brew espresso and froth milk correctly, and their result will be worse than a full automatic.

Interestingly, we have both. Breville is more for people who wanna roll up their sleeves and make own coffee the way they want it with each cup. Jura is for people who prefer to push one button and once customized, move on. I got my husband the 870 XL last year because he asked for it. This year I got myself the Jura because I didn't want to rinse the portafilter with each shot. A month later, the Breville is in the storage now.

Is this worth an upgrade from my Breville 870 or will I not notice a difference?

I wouldn't call it an upgrade. Your Breville has the potential to make better espresso. Convenience and consistency is where these superautomatics excel. I actually have and use both based on how lazy I'm feeling that day.

I also replaced my Breville 870 with a similar machine. I wish Costco had this deal before I decided to get Delonghi Dinamica Plus but not too worried at the end since Delonghi is really good as well.

As to your question, it really depends on what you are looking for, Breville 870 is a manual machine so you can extract a better coffee if you work for it but you need to tinker with it, be consistent with tamping so on. I was the only one in my family that can use 870.

On the other hand these machines are automated so after a quick setup with the grinder, they will make decent espresso and one click milk based drinks as well. For our situation, getting an automated machine was the right choice. I can still differentiate flavors between different beans and espresso is as good as what I normally got from 870. Yes, I was able to get much better coffee from 870 when I tried but I rarely have the patience for that.

Just watched a review, it seems Americano is a two step process, not automatic.

You'd have to step up to the $4k Z8 model in order to get that.

Why do you think this is better than the Dinamica Plus? I had a Breville 870 but put it in storage because nobody else is the house wanted to learn to use it so any time I wanted a latte I had to make one for one or two other people.

Then I did tons of research and landed on Delonghi because they supposedly are the best for maintenance and reliability.

I ended up getting the Lattego deal from a couple weeks ago from Sur La Table and it's a big hit in my house but Dinamica Plus would have been my upgrade choice if available at a discount.

*I am sure the Jura makes MUCH better drinks than Lattego but we love it and aren't coffee connoisseurs*

Philips 3200 vs this model, what's better? I'm new to this automatic coffee machines. I got Philips 3200 when Sur La Table had a discount but haven't used it.
