yeah, if you can get an S21 at a discount, it's a better phone. The FE is a good idea, if it comes out within 6-7 months of the phone it's based on, but not almost a year later. The S22 should be launching in a month. Samsung sometimes hits it out of the park, and sometimes hits a foul.

this is Marquez Brownlee on the S21 FE

Magenta Max + Trade-In + 2 Years Bill Credits make this not a deal. As reference with the Best Buy deal you could get a S21 for $99, the S21 Plus for $175, and the S21 Ultra for $350 with no Bill Credits and not Magenta Max required.

The S21 FE has a pricing problem, for the amount of money Samsung is asking for it you can get a regular S21 or a Pixel 6 (for cheaper). With this problem I expect to see way more deals for the S21 FE and better than this one, ie I would skip this deal and wait. Specially with the S22 right around the corner the S21 line overall is going to start decreasing in price.

Assuming this thread survives until then, the key information I couldn't find anywhere today was the accepted devices and valuations. If the S8 is still on the list, for example, this could be an awesome offer. By contrast, this could end up looking like the recent iPhone 13 T-Mobile offers where only recent devices made the cut.

Good luck!

You're spot on regarding the relative pricing/positioning, so unless the trade in offers are indeed insanely generous (read: the S8 is on the list, or at least the S9 at full discount) then this should be a hard pass for most. The S21 FE will likely be a solid handset from Samsung, but a Slickdeals perspective demands more than has been demonstrated to be on offer at this time.

Good luck!

Can someone explain the Best Buy deal to me if it's still live? I have an S10 and I'm still regretting not going for that almost free S21 last january before they introduced that magenta max plan. Now it seems all the good trade offers from t-mobile require max

Edit: Oh so the enhanced trade was instore only but only for the unlocked versions which are no longer on sale. Can still get like $100 off the $499 but that's still $400 for a year old phone. Guess I just wait for S22 at this point

Best buy deal is still alive on tmobile branded phones. I traded in XR and got $400 off. I paid $100+$20 taxes for s21

$499 before enhanced trade-in. Bought one for my brother for $100 after trade + $130 the cost of the iPhone XR from Total Wireless deal. About $230 before any Cashbacks and no 2-year commitment.

I hate how TM started treating the current non-Max customers like crap. Second class citizens lol. It's like all of us stopped paying for our bills and their CEO is punishing us. Fark them!

Wow that's crazy considering the age of the XR, that's even more than they were giving for the unlocked deal that bumped samsung trade ins up by huge amounts

Yes u r correct. Contemplating doing the same thing but keep the s21, hoping for a nice trade in value towards the s22. Xr just sitting in the drawer.
