I have 4 speakers in the ceiling with the house I bought. Need a receiver and a subwoofer. Any recommendations on a subwoofer? I have to have one right?
You also need front speakers, a center speaker, and surround speakers.
If not this one, any recommendations for an 8K receiver with the following:
- Pre-outs for the front two channels (so I can power my towers with my external amp)
- Zone 2 outs (or Speaker B) so I can wire up my deck speakers
- VRR for when I (eventually) get a Playstation 5
It's not a major rush, but I have Dolby Vision capable TVs and a DV capable NVidia Shield TV device. Looking for something where my receiver can pass it through properly.
Is my best bet just to wait? I don't need any of these ASAP and my receiver, outside of not being able to pass DV, is otherwise doing what I need it to do.
Thanks!
The TSR-700 has all of that, but the preamp outs are analog only for main and Zone 2. I would not buy this receiver at this price unless it was new. But I have to say, I love mine.
That's it, yep. Just fill it in and likely within a day or two you'll get an email from United Radio asking you some questions about your unit. They'll send a pre-paid label for UPS that you can drop off anywhere. If you don't have a suitable box, UPS can box it up for you. I had everything in the original package as I held it for a year, waiting on this fix, so I didn't even hook it up until it came back (I only *just* got my XSX like a week before I sent this out for repair). Once I dropped it off, it took about six days travel to get there.
Unit arrived in the AM. I received a couple of emails from the team about my unit. They opened it and there was some white powder in there, which I said must have come from the factory, because I literally only opened the box once the whole time I had it, just to make sure it wasn't damaged and had everything it was supposed to. They even took pictures of it. Anyway, they wiped it down, fixed it, and had it back out to me that same day/afternoon. Another six days of travel and it was at my door. I requested signature confirmation on delivery, just in case I wasn't there.
The whole process was painless. They even backup your settings and reload them after testing, if you have any (mine was still default, so nothing to backup). And if you're closer to Utah than I am, it may not even take that long to get there and back (I assume they all go to the same place, but that may also change, I dunno). But all of it was during the holiday, so I'm still impressed at how quick it went through.
Only other thing I'd add is to make sure you take everything else out of the box (e.g., manuals, remote) and to make sure the wireless antenna are detached. I didn't realize they even came off, but they took them off for me and packaged them up when they sent it back. All things considered, I think this is a better solution than Denon's little add on box they sent out. Maybe not as quick, but seems more "official" than their fix.

Thanks. I knew it had all of those items, but it seems like for price reasons or "half baked HDMI 2.1" reasons, people were suggesting this wasn't that great of a deal. Thought some people might have recommendations for a different AVR that fit my wish list.
United Radio shipped me a box with the correct packaging (including additional bubble wrap and plastic bag for the receiver). They received it, repaired it, and shipped back all in the same day.
The only mild complaint I have is the top of the receiver came back with some very light scuffing on the plastic part. Everything else was perfect and all settings were retained.

Thank you, I had no idea this (the repair process) was a thing. It'd be kind of annoying not to have a AVR for a couple of weeks, but maybe I should do it too. I don't have an Xbox X and I don't plan on getting one anytime soon though. Do you know if this was an issue with PS5 as well? I'm much more likely to get that, I think.

Sorry - can you explain where you found for $200 - Q was quoted, but I dojn't see the Answer. thx

You'll need to state your budget. SVS makes great subs at most price ranges but the cheapest is $500. Also you'll probably want a 9.2 channel receiver since you have 4 height speakers built into your ceiling.
This or the Denon S760H from Costco? S760H was only $50 more.
I had the TSR-700 and sent away for the HDMI board updates and then still returned to get the Denon S760H.
The TSR-700 is nice and has 1 more HDMI outputs
BUT
The Denon was easier to setup, the Denon mobile app (while old) is much more responsive and I haven't had any of the HDMI/ARC handshake issues that I had with the TSR. You will also see many posts of the TSR having Dolby Vision (DV) issues. I had some that went away with the Denon. Sound quality of Denon for movies is better (to the point where my SO and the family noticed and they don't normally).
I also had issues with the TSR and Spotify that "just worked" on the Denon.
However, the TSR seemed to sound better for music.
For my family the Denon has been closer to a "just works" product vs the "messing with" that my family often commented about with the TSR.

I had the TSR-700 for 10 months. Returned to Costco when the Denon S760H released and am much happier.
There was *more* wrong with the Yamaha AVR than the incompatibility w/ HDMI 2.1.

Just googled the shit out of this. Apparently exact same. But this is the rebrand for coscto version
