I had this exact model- these are great until they aren't! The two plumbers told me they'd rip it out- first time I let it slide for my wife who wanted it still….second time and $800 total labor later, it had to go. Im sure they work okay for some people, but over time (for many folks- according to two plumbers) they are not worth the risk. Sorry, I bought mine via slickdeals too- not thread crapping- but if I can save a slickdealer $100s of dollars in plumbing thats great, if not I honestly hope you dont have issues because many people do not have any problems…so it's possible you may end up fine. Just be educated that these can back up your lines. My toilets and sinks started gargling, then wouldn't flush. Needed to power snake the line 150' to get to the clog!!!!!!!!!! Was out in front of the house! The next step would have been to dig up the lines!!!!!

I have the 1 HP Waste King. I would get at least the 3/4 HP. The one that came with my house was a Badger too. You'll realize that the Badger is and has always been junk compared to the Waste King.

I will caution you that the Waste King units are physically bigger and leave less room for other things under the sink. Make sure you have the room before ordering.

This is the best $ to $ disposal out there, especially when they run it at this price

Bought this a while back when the price was almost 30% less. This thing is durable and as others have said it.. it will crush just about anything.

According to the 3C's, $85 is the often price on Amazon, but was $70 two months ago. Being a slickdeal is subjective... such as being the best deal today.

Meanwhile and if it matters, a family of four or less will do fine with a 1/2HP.

These are great prices. I feel ashamed for recently paying regular price on the InSinkerator Badger 500 v3, but home emergencies happen at undesirable times haha.

thx Knicewarner and SimMike777

I've had alerts set for other items from CCC, and the post was < 10 minutes and already jumped in price. So, while it probably hit $70 briefly, it wouldn't be a price I'd bank on.

I did snag a whole house surge protector once at similar situational price as you mention and then the seller waited FOUR months before finally sending it. A different time/item, the seller said the item broke while getting it from the warehouse :rolls eyes: (and, no, they didn't honor it on a non-broken item saying they were "out of stock").

So, my 2 cents on CCCs lowest 'found' prices....is good luck and don't hold your breath.

I have a InSinkErator Garbage Disposal, Badger 5, 1/2 HP about 6 years old that came with the house that mostly works, I barely put anything down it and it starts to backup and I have to run it, I am wondering because it's a 1/2 HP, or should I get the 3/4 HP ?

Except the $70 was mentioned in a different thread to then be ran in this thread.

In other words, it was on sale for about 24 hours, sold and shipped by Amazon and not a third party. Oddly enough, people wanted the 1hp and not so different when the 1/2hp is on sale and they want the 3/4hp .... lol ...

But agreed, with apparently some algorithm, Amazon and often third party sellers are notorious for raising the price as traffic is sent and presumed sales made. If sales stop and plenty of inventory, the price drops back down to cycle again. If still making sales, the price keeps rising. Or, a third party set off the notice with just one or two and by the time you see it, sold and back to normal price from the next seller that is usually Amazon.

As well, the 3C's are great for history, but a bit slow on notices. Your option is to set up an RSS feed, or use a paid service that you still have to monitor notices if you don't want to miss a deal.

I have one, it's awesome. I did have trouble with a leak after insulation, but I attribute it to the shape of the bottom of my sink. It's got more curve to it and the ring doesn't have a ton of surface to make a good seal. I had re-install it with more plumbers putty and it worked great.
