"I'm a reasonably experienced grinder user. I purchased this Bosch and the similarly priced Metabo HPT for comparison. I have better machines, but wanted something cheap and cheerful that I could throw around and get dirty with little concern. Both delivered to my door for just $40 each - both made in China. Both are great value and good performers for the price paid. Metabo HPT feels heavier, and vibrates a little more than the Bosch. Bosch has the easier to adjust guard. The gearbox area of each one gets quite hot in use - this may be due to a lack of grease (or poor quality grease) - or it may be a normal design feature (they do run v fast). Metabo HPT comes with a plastic case and 5 disks, so you are really getting the grinder for about $30 delivered. Metabo HPT has longer warranty. An all day every day user will probably need something with a larger motor, but the DIY user will be served well by either of these. Overall, you will be pleased with either one - or both!"

The slimmer handle with more power on your linked GWS8-45 is just about right.
As more 'tooless' models come out and perfected, these are becoming old technology.

Bought the 7.5amp one instead now
When one buying into one of these premium brand tool, expect these tools will outlast your own life, make the will accordingly.
Having said that, I think people at Ryobi deserve a Noble price for making its tools to fail so quickly, thereby insuring lifetime employment for its employees. Why not, if they can come up with Noble prize for completely worthless buffon recognized for his work as community organizer, they can come with another one just like that.

We bought two of the Metabo for $29 each on a deal as gifts and the only thing good about them is the case they came in. Neither had much power to begin with and in less than a year with intermittent usage, both had loose bearings. Yes, they were a poor gift choice and replaced this year with two upper end Milwaukee for considerably more money. We also bought the gold anniversary Metabo from Ohio tools and it is on it's last leg. They are junk, but we also paid 'junk price' for the one you are referencing and only feel bad because we gave them as gifts.
For a few dollars more, I would definitely jump up to the Bosch GWS8-45 [amazon.com], or a Milwaukee, DeWalt or Makita on a deal that is 7amps or more. But, if I had to choose between the OP and that Metabo, it would be the OP Bosch.
