Upgraded to iOS 15.2.1 and checked for Parts and Service History under Settings > General > About. As there was no Parts and Service History, the battery is not a replacement. Any battery replacement, whether genuine Apple or third-party, would show up in the history.
For XRs (unlike 12s or 13s), screen replacements will not show up in the history. A visual examination of my XR doesn't show any obvious evidence of screen replacement.
Posted by another user, FYI: For those who are wondering if you want to do a return, Yes you do have to pay return shipping if it was delivered to you. If you refuse the package you will not have to pay return shipping. For returning, USPS(Postal Service) First Class with tracking or Priority mail recommended but UPS and Fedex should work as well. (ALWAYS make sure you get tracking on your package or it can complicate your return and or cause a return to "have no evidence of arriving")

Trade-in Options (From asianman35, Post 1156):
1. trade in to best buy for $190 gift card
2. trade in to apple for $200 gift card
3. trade in to gamestop for $210 credit or $168 cash
4. use to trade in with your carrier (sprint seems to be a great deal right now)
5. activate and hope that it unlocks after 60 days? some people are saying this wont happen since these have been activated on totalwireless already (hence theyre refurbs).

Well as per the new policy after take over from Verizon in November,Tracphone has updated its unlocking policy for apple devices to be 60 days post activation if activated after Nov 23rd-2021
That said,I have reached to multiple customer care rep and have even called and the fact that it gets unlocked after 60 days is something they all echoed but there was difference on if it active service or just first month of activation. There is no proven way until Jan 23rd to see when this first set of deals got launched to see how it goes.
The unlocking policy does mention it will automatically unlock after 60 days - But if some one or most of the folks trading in should not have a problem .If you plan to keep this phone for a longer run and use it I would activate the service for the second month to avoid any hassle in pushing Customer rep to unlock .As i did call out we will have to wait to see how it actually works. Its an additional $20-$22 to get some total wireless prepadi cards on sale or deals.
In the worst case if this not does not get honored we can still encash for trade in or other options to sell this for cash.
Any one with still having doubts on the unlock policy can contact customer care for their satisfaction before they jump in - however as i mentioned its more of waiting game as I did realize it was not consistent reply.

Reset and went through setup without logging in to anything or setting PIN etc. They connect to their computer that runs a buyback software test and checks for blacklist etc.

I have a XR Coral that I bought New in box from Simple Mobile and compared it side by side to my 3 "Good" XRs, the quality of the screens look near identical.
Other than the 1 DIM one I received, that one was obviously replaced along with the excess glue on the sides.
Out of 7 phones 4 were near flawless, 1 had a nick between the screen and body, 1 had excess adhesive around the body and on the speaker mesh, but good screen, and the last one was the worse lots of excess glue and dim screen.
So of the 3 I have on hand, compared to my new SM Coral XR the weights are:
206g Coral XR (simple mobile) new box, glass protector
205g XR from TW, glass protector
196g XR from TW, no glass protector, including protection film
196g XR from TW, no glass protector, including protection film
Mine are all similar in weight, don't feel like removing the glass protector to get the "bare" weight, but all my "Keepers" have the same near identical quality screen. Too bad I already traded in that DIM screen one, which would have been nice to know if the weight is significantly different.
I gave away 2 and traded in 2, I'm left with 3 that I activated and waiting to unlock.
what is DIM screen?
NYTurbo is the brand, like R-SIM.
These all do the same thing, they just spoof ICCID and IMSI.
The right combination of these will trigger a "soft-unlock" NO SIM RESTRICTIONs, until a factory reset.
since these are refurbished phones, it's kind of a luck of the draw what you will get.
like someone mentioned might be ok if you have nothing to compare to, but it was obvious to me that it was darker than the rest I've gotten up till now.
I ended up trading that one in.
The remaining phones I have the screens are pretty even matched, so I'm keeping them to unlock for now.
take a look at the photos.
side by side is the DIM one vs New XR.
the 4 phones are my remaining 3 TW ones vs the New XR(far right)
edit: when I traded mine in to Gamestop I went through the basic setup without logging in, so I could set the brightness higher. In my case it did get as bright as an original at full brightness, but quickly dimmed as you reduced the brightness.

thanks for the explanation
I compared XR with my iphone se 2020, brightness is no difference with my eyes, but I do see difference in color temp, but it may due to TrueTone
honestly speaking, since a lot confirmed here that the replacement battery is from sunwoda, which is an official Apple battery partner, I am thinking even we do have some replacement parts such as screen and battery inside, we should not be that worried
A legitimate refurbish company with a decent scale, should have some quality control on parts to be qualified to co-operate with TW. It is NOT a one-time game there
those cheap replacement screen sold over ebay or amazon is far inferior, which you can tell with phone powered off that it is like grey when looking at an angle

for the most part, majority of the phones that I received were great.
The DIM one, it was obvious, as someone mentioned the edge of the phone was "rough" there was some excess "sealant" black caulk like substance like rubber between the glass and the plastic frame. I was able to remove the excess with my fingernail but it was obvious it was an inferior refurbish job with inferior parts, Excess adhesive too around the edges of the phone, and the mesh on the top speaker grill looked more "translucent" than all of the rest i've seen.
to me that phone should have been rejected as a "redo", luckily I waited for my last order to arrive before I traded any of my "Good" XR's in.
Other thing I suspect with that phone is it's possible the light sensor isn't working or installed incorrectly, that would explain why the screen is always so dark....
But if you just need a working iphone or for like someone that's older, these phones for the price they're asking, frankly is still the best deal ever!
Did anyone confirm if the second month payment is needed to get the phone unlocked after 60-days? I may have to pay as I have about 8000 points pending. As long as phone unlocks after 60-days, I should be fine.

so I don't think the color dots theory holds any water, just speculation, the sample size is too small.
Who really knows the colors really mean, could be indifferent of quality.
No one knows if second *paid* month is needed yet. The majority of us who bought at the earliest was Late DEC, so 60 days makes end of FEB, we should know in about 2.5 weeks.
I paid for the 2nd month while others did not, so it might just require a valid activation and full 60 days to unlock or require 60 days of paid service... Can't confirm or deny yet.
