Reasons: More than double the storage and a gasket to keep out dust/moisture. Purchased for $13 in store, I keep it bungee corded in the bed of my truck and use it to stow misc items.
The Plano will have thicker walls for more durability, but I'm not tossing this item around. It stays put. I hope this helps anyone!

I like the black and yellow ones and they are pretty inexpensive from Costco especially when they are on sale. I just bought this one from home depot for the $17 I thought I was getting one heck of a deal marketed down from $70 but that is a lie they are always $17 but it is an OK box
