Someone posted the following comment in 'Black Friday iPhone deal thread'. Their Verizon iPhone Auto Unlocked on the 60th day.

"The most magical thing just happened guys. Today I woke up to a "No SIM Restriction" on a Verizon iPhone 13. So they do definitely unlock it automatically on the 60th day. I still have the Verizon line but it's in a "voluntary suspended )$10 a month)" status because I wanted to make sure it would unlock and I still had a line (I don't think keeping a line is necessary btw, I was just being extra cautious). All good. Everything turned out ok to my surprise!"

That's Tracfone proper, you can choose. Total Wireless has always been Verizon only and Simple Mobile is T-Mobile. The parent company of Tracfone (which VW bought) has these:

SIM options
Tracfone: ATT, T-Mo, Verizon
Total Wireless: Verizon
Simple Mobile: T-Mobile
Net10: ATT(now removed), T-Mo, Verizon
Pageplus: Verizon
Walmart Family Mobile: T-Mo
Straight Talk: ATT, T-Mo, Verizon

I've been doing this a while and know the ins and outs of TFW. Verizon may or may not force all brands to their network at some point. They also may consolidate the brands, but that's the rundown.

Happy to report that my refurb XR is unlocked. After seeing your message, I checked Carrier Lock and it indeed said No SIM restrictions. Activated my service on 12/23. Did not pay for 2nd month of service. Hooray!

Keep your phone on and connected to Wi-Fi. Your phone may be automatically unlocked in the morning on 3/25, a day early than reported by 611611.

OMG, what a nightmare trying to get that plan! I should have known that anything involving TW reps would be a headache.

My plan end date for one of my lines is 3/27, so I chatted online to add that plan. I'm going for points and should have enough for a $300 phone credit when all is said and done. So anyway, I first chatted and asked to get the "$10 talk and text plan". Rep said fine and charged me $11.23 after tax. Seemed easy … then, I looked at my TW account and the plan showed up in my reserve and ready to use, but the service end date only changed by a week.

So I called them up to see what happened and they said I was given their 7-day talk and text plan for $10. I said to cancel that and refund me because I thought it was a 30-day plan. I didn't even know they had 7-day plans. Then at some point, she said that they do have a 30-day talk and text plan which is also $10 and she can get me that after refunding the 7-day plan. So I'm thinking great, it's getting straightened out. She finally processes the refund and adds my new 30-day talk / text plan for $10 and then says that my new service end date is 4/24. I stopped her and said that is only 30 days from today and my new end date should be 4/26, since I have two more days of service on my current plan. My whole point in buying the extra month is to make sure I have the full 60 days which their terms state are required for the 7k extra line bonus points. It turns out that instead of adding the plan to my reserve ready to activate when it's needed like all other refills, she triggered it to start immediately and waste my two remaining days of service. That would mean I'd only have 58 days of service on that line and completely defeat the point of renewing it. So I asked her to just cancel / refund that and get me back to where I was so that I don't lose my current remaining days of service. The refund is finally processed and we hang up, but when I check the account, it now says service is inactive on that line and my phone is dead. She canceled my plan purchase and it immediately ended my service because of the way she did it.

I called back and asked for a supervisor and he finally agrees to reactivate that line and give me a "one-time courtesy adjustment" to get my remaining days back. He acts like he's doing me a favor by getting me right back to where I was before those idiots started messing with it.

Sorry for the rant, but I'm so pissed off after spending over an hour dealing with them for something that should have been so easy. And the worst part is my service dropped to inactive on day 28 and had to be re-activated, so I'll probably end up losing the 7k points for that line. I'll call to complain if that happens, but I have no confidence that they'll make it right. If not, I'll only be at 15k points instead of 22k, which is only good for a $150 phone credit instead of $300.

So frustrating. I've never seen such incompetence and just sheer stupidity from reps at any company before. You think there's absolutely no way they could screw up such a simple thing so badly, but they just say, "here, hold my beer"

I stupidly used 2500 points to re activate my line from December. I should have just used my scratch off cards and kept those points. got dropped to 18k points and missed out on another $300 off code Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

Funny you mention that … I actually have a total of 22,507 points right now but only about 7,900 are available and the rest are pending. I could have used 2500 points for a plan, but didn't want to cut it so close at the 20k mark in case any of the pending points I have might disappear like some have experienced. And $10 seemed like cheap insurance to make sure I didn't miss out. Little did I know how wrong that whole thing could go. Mad

Yea, I get your frustration. Those reps on the phone seem shady from what you went through.

Same thing I was thinking…keep the line active with $10 or even $25 if those points accumulate

20k points for an iPhone 11 is crazy

I received a 'free' one and should be getting another one shipped out on Monday.

I'm actually using these for family. Wish apple would have done the mask unlocking with at least the 11 series.


Do you know if you can combine 2 20k point codes in one order?

Not sure about that, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was a limit of one per order. I remember seeing that it won't let you use a $ off code with the 15% off code.

60th day of service (Purchases second month) . Got text from TWC and it says "Your phone has now been unlocked" and I'm able to use my other network sim without any issues.

Thanks to OP. Just wanted to share iphone 11 unlocked automatically today, after 60 days, didn't purchase 2nd month service. According to 611611, it will be unlocked on 3/27, today 3/26 no more sim restrictions.
