Someone posted the following comment in 'Black Friday iPhone deal thread'. Their Verizon iPhone Auto Unlocked on the 60th day.

"The most magical thing just happened guys. Today I woke up to a "No SIM Restriction" on a Verizon iPhone 13. So they do definitely unlock it automatically on the 60th day. I still have the Verizon line but it's in a "voluntary suspended )$10 a month)" status because I wanted to make sure it would unlock and I still had a line (I don't think keeping a line is necessary btw, I was just being extra cautious). All good. Everything turned out ok to my surprise!"

That's Tracfone proper, you can choose. Total Wireless has always been Verizon only and Simple Mobile is T-Mobile. The parent company of Tracfone (which VW bought) has these:

SIM options
Tracfone: ATT, T-Mo, Verizon
Total Wireless: Verizon
Simple Mobile: T-Mobile
Net10: ATT(now removed), T-Mo, Verizon
Pageplus: Verizon
Walmart Family Mobile: T-Mo
Straight Talk: ATT, T-Mo, Verizon

I've been doing this a while and know the ins and outs of TFW. Verizon may or may not force all brands to their network at some point. They also may consolidate the brands, but that's the rundown.

Happy to report that my refurb XR is unlocked. After seeing your message, I checked Carrier Lock and it indeed said No SIM restrictions. Activated my service on 12/23. Did not pay for 2nd month of service. Hooray!

I activated this phone on May 18th but it still says Sim locked. checked https://sickw.com/ and it says locked. Not sure what to do
You'll probably need to call their unlock dept ( 1-888-442-5102 ). Don't call customer service because they're mostly useless. Call them and tell them it's a refurb purchased from them and is eligible to be unlocked because you activated two months ago. Be polite but firm that it's definitely eligible for unlock … some of the refurbs don't get entered right and they need to correct it in the system. If they try to tell you that you need to pay for unlock or it requires a year of service, don't waste your time arguing, but just hang up and call back. It could take a few tries to get a rep who knows what they're talking about.

Also, you may want to text "UNLOCK" to 611611 and see what it says. For some people having this problem, it will say "your phone is already unlocked" which is good to mention when you call to emphasize your point that it should be unlocked.

Thanks for explaining. I did call the unlock dept. They sent me a code to authenticate my account but I am unable to receive it since my service is no longer active. They asked for the most frequent numbers I dialed the past 60 days. When I told them that I never called anyone they said it is invalid. Similarly asked for the last 4 digits of the CC I used to refill. When I told them that I never refilled they are not accepting. I tried texting 'UNLOCK' to 611611 but the message failed to go through. Not sure why the text is not going thro' and why I am not able to receive their code. Any advice on how to go about. thanks in advance for your time.

I wonder if maybe it never got activated properly. Did you definitely go through the online activation link through their website that they emailed you? If you didn't get that email, you can also enter the IMEI to activate through the website. But that part through TW needs to be done … not just the "iPhone activation" that you go through when you first turn the phone on. You should also be able to log into their website to see what it shows for your account. You should see that line listed as inactive if it was originally activated. If there's any possibility it wasn't activated, go to their site and try to activate by entering the IMEI now … https://www.totalwireless.com/act...collectesn

Your phone should still be able to work with texts to / from their service dept (611611) even with expired service, so you might want to pop the SIM tray out and back in and reboot the phone to see if texting starts working. (You can also text "FOUR" to 611611 as a test since some have reported that "UNLOCK" doesn't always answer. As for their verification code, you should also be able to request that they verify via the email address associated with your account instead of a phone number. I believe they did that for me when I called them without access to the phone once.

One more thing … you might also want to try calling the unlock dept during regular business hours because if that dept was closed, you might have unintentionally ended up duetting through to someone in customer service and most of those guys are clueless.

Funny you mention that … I actually have a total of 22,507 points right now but only about 7,900 are available and the rest are pending. I could have used 2500 points for a plan, but didn't want to cut it so close at the 20k mark in case any of the pending points I have might disappear like some have experienced. And $10 seemed like cheap insurance to make sure I didn't miss out. Little did I know how wrong that whole thing could go. Mad
so I completely forgot that one of my lines expired 9/4/2022.
I just called up now to add the $10 plan to it:
full price $10.00
number of devices allowed by plan 1
service days remaining 30

Let's see if I didn't mess up the points on that line.

I have about 80k points pending from previous add a lines and the bonus lines I added in august for the 10k points per line.

Yeah, it's a great way to go when they actually punch it in right. Hopefully it works out OK. Mine briefly went inactive when they messed things up and I still ended up getting my points (not sure if a few days of inactivity instead of a few hours would make a difference or not, so let us know if you still get them at the end)

My TW iPhone 11 was automatically unlocked on day 59. Thank you thank you, because I couldn't take any more of them, even for $25/$35 a month.

I didn't get this deal here, as I paid $300 for it new. Now though, I can trade it in at Apple for $230 (yes it was $300 before they had the Apple event) or I can trade it in to AT&T for the $800 credit towards the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
36 month commitment, but we get a great FAN discount, so we aren't going anywhere anyway.

Now for Total Wireless service. 100% absolute crap service/coverage for me in my area just below Atlanta. A lot of places I couldn't even stream Netflix, youtube etc. Calls were not great either.

I'll never complain about AT&T service again. Trust me. I only went with TW because I got the IP 11 for $299, where it was $599 at other places.
