We drove across the country last summer and used one of these to help keep the dog cool in the car. We drove 8–10 hours a day and I replaced the battery roughly every other day, maybe longer, using 4ah batteries that are about four years old. (I like using the bigger batteries to give it some weight to stay put.) Hope that helps!
These are great!! We use these everywhere. Sporting events, camping trips, garage, and my kids favorite...to dry the dishes in the dishwasher that never really dry in the cycle. The bearings can be a bit loud at times when facing certain angles but overall a solid product. Good find OP.
Funny how the original price is now $24.97. These were $19.99 when they first came out last year.

Love these fans for what they are. I've upgraded a lot of my gear to the red and yellow tools, but I still have a ton of ryobi batteries to use. I own three of these. Use two of them almost daily. My biggest gripe about them is they are super sensitive sometimes with positioning and will make a weird/exaggerated noise until it settles down. Drives me nuts sometimes, but $20 is $20. I own the bigger fans from all three big brands and these get used the most. They produce a lot of air and just sip on 4Ah batteries. Use it for camping, power outages, white noise, or kids soccer game.

I have the larger dual power fan (not the biggest tho). Love it. I am particular about performance when it comes to fans and I get this is a smaller fan than the one I have now.

That said, can anyone comment on how the air flow compares between the 2? is the air flow comparable when you consider the smaller size and resulting decrease? or is this one of those crap gimmick items?

This is definitely not a crap gimmick item. I have all three sizes of the Ryobi fans and use this one the most. The size, IMO, is one of it's advantages as it's extremely portable and easy to keep close by. There is a reason why they sell out quickly. If you already have Ryobi batteries it's a no brainer. It won't keep you cool enough in the middle of August in Florida when the power is out but would help you sleep through the night in the same circumstances. DTO had these for $13.99 a couple of weeks ago and I picked up five along with some other deals.

Anyone have any idea on runtime on any given battery size?

I've got 2 of these that I clip onto my mower when it's hot out. Also use these when I work out, cool myself down after a hot shower, cool down food, dry off wet food, dry certain things after washing them, and a lot of other uses. Very handy and lasts awhile! My only complaint is that both have started to make a rattling sound. I'll keep using them until they start getting worse and then just warranty them out.

The only advantage the larger fan has is the available plug in feature. I own both sizes and the larger fan barely beats out the smaller ones. I reach for my smaller fan 99% of the time if I am on battery.

Looks like it's sold out already.

Edit: Now in stock again for home delivery. That was weird.

It may not happen to these, but a word to the wise, don't walk away and leave these running until they kill the battery. I have a Ridgid version and left two on overnight by accident and they ruined both batteries. Ended up with flipped polarities on a couple of cells each. Couldn't bump them back to life and couldn't de-solder the tabs for the life of me in my attempt to make one good out of two bad batteries.

(All going to say, that is why you should register your stuff for lifetime warranties.... but I'm lazy.)

And in Ryobi's defense, all of their batteries I've owned are still working well.
