I have a pair of these in a wired backhaul configuration and absolutely love them. Much better signal strength than my prior Orbi RBK53 setup I switched from. So far, not a single connection issue.
While this is a great price, even without the gift card, be aware of Neweggs no return - no exchange policy on this item. Caveat emptor.
I would wait for Wi-Fi sixE before dumping money into this kind of crap. ASUS 86u mesh works great for now
The surprising answer is yes, the older clients still get benefits of speed increases and better connections. This was proven by multiple testers using wifi 6 AP's and comparing results to their previous wifi 5 AP's with an older client. While you wont hit speeds 700Mbps+ you will more consistently get speeds closer to the 500Mbps top range of wifi 5 when using a wifi 6 router or access point. That is off course using a 3x3 wifi 5 client and on the 5ghz band. The 2.4Ghz also sees increases as I mentioned in the previous response, prior to wifi 6 most 2.4ghz speeds never really got over 90 Mbps consistently with wifi 6 those same 2.4ghz clients have been able to hit around 170Mbps on the top end.
The point of getting the AX wifi 6 clients is to more consistently get those 600-700Mbps speeds while some router and mesh systems on the high end are able to get around 1.4Gbps which means over wifi you can utilize a full 1Gbps fiber line without a Ethernet cable and still have extra room.

Worst router EVER, ethernet ports failed in less than 2 months, customer services SUCKS, thank God I had BestBuy extended warranty and was able to get my money back as BB credit!
Great price, I needed these but couldn't wait so I bought the Zen Mini 3-pack (1 router, 2 extenders) for about $220 and I am still very happy. The biggest gain on this model is, the wired backhaul, and triband vs dualband. The best part of either is that ASUS does not require the BS subscription model that ORBI and EEVO require… and you get ALL the features not some stripped down version (on both). This model has a few features over the mini, but they both have the most popular ones like VPN, Alexa, IFFT, port reservation, parental control, and built-in free security subscription (for life) amoung tons of others. ASUS site has a great tool to compare thier models and worth checking out before taking the plunge.
It's even replaced my quirky old (per device setup) VPN work extraordinarily well across all the devices on my LAN…so no mire crappy apps for me. I should mention I am not sure yet how/if the kill switch works if the VPN goes down, but I *think* you just get a lack of connection, but again, not sure.
I am still in the Holiday return window so I might return and upgrade, but not sure as I am really happy with the ZEN mini.
EDIT: Seems neither has 6E so I removed that info.

I have the ax6600 version and it's been great. Also separates the 2.4 and 5ghz bands for easier connection to smart devices. I added an Asus blue cave router as another satellite. I will be back haul wiring the router and satellite to help with the signal even though I currently don't need to.
Very well reviewed system. With pure wireless setup the system tops out around 850Mbps at the main router and around 700Mbps on the satellites. While not the fastest its a great mesh set for people who like to tinker and customize as the Asus firmware is very robust compared to Netgear and TP-Link.

Thank you for the comment of this router pack. I need to upgrade from my TP-Link Deco M5
If so, I'm in for 2!
