I'm pretty sure that device can be swapped once activated and the plan itself costs around $40 on sale. I have similar set up for my kid as emergency while he's in school. Doesn't spoil them with unlimited data and not fancy enough to play games or show off so he can stay focused on learning lol.
I am always new to HSN!
I activated the Samsung A11 yesterday as a new Tracfone account. Upon activation they sent the following text, which states 60 days:
Hi there, a quick update from Tracfone.
We have an updated unlocking policy. You can check it here http://tf-w.co/NZyp2bR

I bought this phone a few months ago. It's actually a pretty decent phone, but keep in mind it's rather big and heavy.
I am ok with having a phone that's heavy. But the 6"+ size in most phones released during the past three years are simply too large. It is the main reason I am currently struggling if I should upgrade my moto g5 plus from 2017. The moto e has half the ram and storage and is too bulky to have in my pocket.

*EDIT*
Just realized it is OOS. Good. Was thinking about getting it as a spare and was happy I saved $29.

Thanks, for the reply and the feedback. I'm curious, though, what are your thoughts on the performance differences, if any, between the two phones? Would you say that the Moto G Pure is worth $30 more than the Moto E?

I would mostly just want this phone/service to have as a backup phone to bring with me on my commute (76 miles, each way), because I encounter several spots along my commute, where I completely lose my T-Mobile service. And I worry that if I were to break down, or need to make an important phone, along one of these no service stretches, it would definitely nice to have a backup phone with Verizon service on it that I could use. However, I would also like to be able to use it as a Wi-Fi device at home, to save the battery on my main cell phone.

So, if you wouldn't mind replying again and sharing some feedback on the actual performance differences between the two phones, I would really appreciate that.
I've used the Moto E more, and compared with the brief usage on the G Pure, the performance isn't much different. I haven't gamed a lot or used any intensive apps, just web browsing & switching from app to app, don't notice much of a difference in performance at all.

Every Moto phone I've had (back to G4 years ago) has had FM radio.

I would have to guess your g5+ will stop working here soon. Not sure what carrier you have, but I assume that volte (3g shutdown) will impact you sooner than later.

Checking my emails this morning I got one from HSN sent to my paypal email (not to the email of my hsn account) simply saying

"Confirmation: Your Order Has Been Cancelled"

as if I initiated it... but I didn't. Body of email also says

"Your order has been cancelled
This email is to confirm that your HSN order has been cancelled."

no mention that maybe it was canceled because they oversold?

Has anyone tried using TracFone AT&t SIM card in these locked phones? I'm wondering if it's locked to the Verizon LTE frequencies, or if the AT&t LTE frequencies are also available for use.
It will work but better wait 60 days to unlock it before do it.

Did you activate the original sim on TF? I've activated a TW iPhone on TF & got phone unlocked last Fall. Phone activated as a TF.
If you activated/used on TF there's no reason to deal with SM, they have nothing to do with it. (You do need to add additional yr of service since carryover service doesn't count towards unlock, they got me on that once before).
Need more specific details.. Sounds like you didn't register phone correctly.

i believe i activated the tf sim card on another unlocked phone and then i used the activated sim card in the simple mobile phone...i was not able to activate tf sim card on my sm phone...someone advised me to take this approach and it works for me.

i added more minutes for the next 30 days.....do i need to add another yr of svc to unlock?

tf cust svc stated that since it's a smple mobile phone, they had to transfer me to them to unlock.......

i thought the system would registered the phone info,,,not???

thanks

That's what you did wrong, the serial number (IMEI) of phone has to be registered with the sim used in each phone so they can verify service on your account. By using another sim in your phone it's not registered correctly, it's still registered to the other phone. You got bad info, probably nothing you can do now.

I know what you did might work temporarily (it did in the past but wasn't legal according to TF terms). Recently they've been contacting users & telling them to put sim back in original phone, maybe because Verizon bought all Tracfone companies 11/23/21 and they're now enforcing the actual policy.

Someone in the TW iPhone 11 thread just said today they had their 3 day old line canceled (lost the number & whatever service they had) because they used sim activated on another phone. Not what you wanted to hear but does that help explain it?

hmmmm...that's a bummer.....i've been using the svc for a whole yr on sm phone and the svc is not recognized by the system even though it's a tf sim card.........thanks for your time...guess i'll have to ditch them...

Your biggest problem is that android is so old you may soon start having issues with out of date apps that can't update anymore. I'd start looking around for a replacement just in case.
