Sony for:
- Size
- Darker rooms
- Better sound
- PS5

Samsung for:
- Brighter rooms
- Need for viewing at wide angles
- Better UI
- XboxSX

Both are really good choices and I think it mostly comes down to the location you will put it in. Light in room, how far your seats are from the TV, what angle from the TV, etc.
I'm on the lookout for any deal on the 85".
Can you clarify why one is better for the PS5 and the other better for XboxSX?

Every company has them die
Just not a lot of them do.

It's only natural to have failures tho. Samsung is a top seller. Mathematically they are more likely to have more failures

I get it. Costco has 7 year warranty thouth. FYI I would not push anyone away.

I have like 7 Samsungs in my house

Granted, all are top of the line, I bet cheaper models are more likely to die. But higher end models can die too

I am a believer that the Number one contributor to deaths of TV's is constantly moving. Ie. Get it toss in wall and never move it again. Short of a power surge should be fine

My friend kills TV's he rents and moves every year. Sucks for him. I mount them abs they just live forever

I'd rather have the tcl R646. So much of the same stats for 500 or more less.

If I'm coming from a samsung plasma looking to upgrade is qled or oled the way to go? I like the Samsung brand but they don't do oled. I think LG and Panasonic are the only 2.

Depends on your budget really. The better qleds like the qn90a are still somewhat cheaper than a true OLED from LG or Sony. Panasonic doesn't sell their OLEDs in US stores. The samsung QLEDs that aren't Neo I wouldn't even put in the same category as OLEDs.

Problem is the OLEDs are more expensive and it's really hard to find any deals on them. Especially the larger sizes.

I guess my budget will be around 3k or less. I'm just not looking to drag my 60" plasma tv when I move again. I would rather purchase new and up to date 4k tv to watch stuff in 4k. I know Panasonic ships their oled to a certain store as some guy did a YouTube video about it. I'm just curious what gives the best picture comparable to plasmas.

It pains me to suggest it because there really aren't any good discounts on them but if your budget is up to 3k definitely get a OLED by LG or Sony. I don't really know much about the Panasonic models. Rtings site can help you decide which one is best for you.

If you want a bright image that really pops, similar to my experience when I first got a plasma a long time ago, OLED is the way to go.

To samsung's credit, I do have a Samsung 52" near top of the line that i purchased back in 2007 that's still kickin' ass and i swear the picture quality puts some of these newer screens to shame even at 1080p.

I also have a Samsung washer/dryer set from around 2007/2008 that's still going strong.

This was when flat panels were making an introduction into the world and I'm assuming better quality parts were used at that time.

However, just as any business model goes, max profit cut costs, I'd imagine Samsung quality took a hit over the years because people just started to buy for the brand.

Just my rant.
