FYI Sam's Club cashapp boost 10% is better than this right now. I suppose you could buy visa gift cards at Sam's and use them to buy this…. 🧐

Where did you get discounts on $10k of giftcards?
The club stores have pretty good standard (every day) discounts on GC's. Last I checked BJ's offered the best discount - checking right now they sell a $500 GC for $479.99, or about 4% off. I'm not a Sam's member any longer so I can't check that price right now, and Costco's website prices are different than in store as well (if they even sell it). Although I haven't done it personally, I hear Target sells them and you can use a 5% RedCard discount as well.

4% might not seem like much, but that's $400 on $10k - enough for a few meals for my family at least.

Then there are times when you might be able to do better. A few years ago I was able to use BJ's coupons to get more like 12% off, but that involved making MANY $75 purchases to meet the coupon min, then combining them all on the merging website.

Staying off property this time but will still be spending money in the parks for food and souvenirs.
The great thing about the magic band is that it lets you not bring a wallet/purse - but if you had to carry a GC or 2 it wouldn't be the end of the world. I was last @ DW in April (and DL the Feb before that) and even then they were really pushing app-ordering. Unless they've improved their app, at that time there was no way to store a GC, you had to type in the numbers every farking time.

BJ's has always like a 4% discount. Sometimes a bit more. Target with Red Circle is 5%. You can buy cards for months before your trip.
No need to buy from BJ's at regular price if you have a Target Red Card. 5% all the time, just make sure to transfer the values to a safe card number immediately.

BJ's will often have sales that go to 6٪ off. Combine that with warehouse stores 5٪ quarterly offers on Discover or Chase and you're up to 10.7% off top line. Can also get that when Paypal is on bonus. With the cashback earned, you can often leverage that to better than $ for $ by getting various gift cards from credit card company for 20% off.

However, Discover not showing warehouse stores on calendar for 2022. Chase doesn't announce theirs until just before a quarter starts. Best chance so far for 22 will be Paypal in third quarter.

Note this is only a deal if you weren't going to already maximize the quarterly cash back on the card. No point in buying $1500 in Disney just to get no cash back on everything else from warehouse store or Paypal that quarter.

Other strategy is to buy from grocery stores during promo grocery quarter. Pay full price, but get 5% back from card and do it during store promos for 4x fuel rewards. Coordinate your gas-ups with significant other and fill 2 cars and save $1 a gallon per purchase. (Don't shut pump off) For $250 in Disney gift card purchase, save $26 to $40 in gas depending on how big of a tank you drive. Your effective savings can be 15% or more but it's a hassle coordinating empty gas tanks.

One note on grocery and Target gift card purchases, I'd suggest immediately consolidating those gift cards to a card number you've got from somewhere else, even an ecard number to avoid card fraud from public racks. I've never had an issue with Kroger bought Disney cards, but did have a no value Netflix card and even an Arby's card drained by low life. Both companies made it right. Kroger shrugged their shoulders.

You do for in-store specialty gift card purchases, so it might be safe to assume yes for this

Reminds me when Cyberpunk 2077 releases on GOG and all people did was VPN to a country that sells release games at like 50% off.

One thing to note about BJ's at least - GC purchases aren't eligible for their CC rewards - so you can't count on 5% back @ BJ's (for the highest tier CC). Since that card is the one I use for basically all BJ's purchases, when the quarterly bonus rolls around on other cards, maxxing it out is an easier decision. I've also not seen a $$ off coupon in a long time - was great being able to buy $75 of Disney GC for around $60 or so.

Also regarding fuel rewards - around here our major chain (Stop and Shop, sister to Giant) neutered their fuel program several years ago - the max you can get back is ~ $35 IIRC, and Shell stations (where you use the rewards) are generally a dime higher than other stations anyway. The whole devaluation just made the program so much less useful, and I had a couple summers where I got *thousands* of $$ in gas for free by playing the gift card bonus game.

Yes, you will. It will tell you at checkout how many rewards you are earning with the purchase.

Just got back from magic kingdom on 1/13 and it was much busier than expected. The genie app you have to use now was a pain in the butt and I'm a tech guy. Constantly had to be checking wait times on the phone to maximize what the 5 of us could ride throughout the day. We spent our 7am lightning lane first booking on jungle cruise as its wait times are the longest and next LL on Peter pan. The calvacades "parades" were a downer. The one we purposely tried to catch was literally a marching band of like 10 people that lasted like a minute.

There are random character pop ups (from a distance) which kids liked if you just happen to be in the right place at the right time.

Waited longest for space mountain, but kids loved it. All in all we got all rides they wanted at least once except mine train (LL is like $12 a person extra)

Forgot to mention we stayed off resort, and had no trouble getting into the park right around 8:50am. They no longer manually check backpacks and bags and you just walk through a scanner. So that was a plus. Splash mountain is closed for now by the way. And the fireworks, projection at 8pm show was great

If you buy an e-gift card directly from Disney, you get an option to add the gift card to Apple Pay. I've now transferred all my gift cards I've been buying over the last few months from different deals to that card. The balance continues to show the original amount in my Apple Wallet, but I can easily track on the Disney gift card site what's left. From what I've read, I'll be able to pay with Apple Pay while at Disney and choose the gift card and not have to re-type the gift card for each transaction. Hoping it works!

I was able to get 10% cash back (up to $5) at shopDisney with my Chase Freedom, so even got a deal on that gift card!
