All you folks who hang out in the Target coupon thread, start hanging out here instead! When you've got something relevant to post about Target coupons, please post about it in the Target coupon thread! This is a major debate in my house. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) The guys think it should stay up. I think it should be placed down, just out of common courtesy.
I live in a house of males (granted only 2 of them pee in the potty currently), but until they start cleaning the bathrooms themselves, they go by my rules, which means seat down! Now this is a trick statement, b/c I have a cleaning crew that comes a couple every other week to clean, but the rule still holds.

I have this odd obsessive dislike of seeing a toilet with the seat up (LTP, are you here to share my OCD on this one??? Big Grin ) - I'm irrationally convinced that latent poo germs are going to constantly stream out of the toilet bowl and head across the bathroom to end up on my toothbrush. vomit

He already had the return address on him. You could write on his forehead, "Return to Sender, Insufficient Postage/Not for this Address," then drop him off at the post office. Big Grin

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... I totally have this obsession also. It drives me crazy and makes me sick to just think about it. When I had wicked bad morning sickness I used to lift the lid and close my eyes to vomit and then shut it all back up before I would open my eyes again. Gross... now I feel like I need to go and take a shower.

ds used to have a terrible fear of bathrooms. The only one he wasn't afraid of was ours. we traveled alot and it made it very difficult. He only wanted to bathe in our tub, so it was a struggle to get him to take a bath when we were away....and gas station bathrooms or rest areas???? FORGET it, we had more luck walking him into the woods laugh out loud

I'm not too obsessive about germs (after all, a healthy immune system can usually handle them), but when I had IBS (cured, thank goodness) I had a stool test that showed - fecal matter. No sh*t! Cost me $550 to find out there was sh*t in my sh*t. Coverlaugh What it really meant was that I'd consumed crap. Now, I don't remember ever serving up a plate of the stuff, but it managed to get in my mouth somehow. Since then I make sure the lid stays CLOSED and it gets closed BEFORE I flush!

Well, technically, some of the water from your toilet does evaporate. Especially if you have a heating vent/heater in your bathroom during the winter.... So I'd guess that there is *some* truth to that statement. Given the proximity of the toilet to my toothbrush and bath towel, I always try to put the seat down. Thankfully, DH and I do not share a bathroom!

Always flush with the lid down.
According to Charles Gerba, PhD, a professor of microbiology at University of Arizona in Tucson, flushing the toilet with the lid up is not wise. "Polluted water vapor erupts out of the flushing toilet bowl and it can take several hours for these particles to finally settle -- not to mention where," he says. "If you have your toothbrush too close to the toilet, you are brushing your teeth with what's in your toilet."

As a matter of fact, I can confirm that it's quite difficult...

That's pretty hilarious (to me, anyway, the parent of three boys---two of which are not very attentive urinators).

Quote from KMA :
My daughter refused to sit. She had a boy cousin she obviously saw going to the bathroom (6 months older), so she'd stand straddling the toilet. She told me, "You can call me a girl all you want, but I'm really a boy." I'm thankful she grew up and now her favorite color is pink (she's a girly girl, phew).
I have a niece that did the same thing (hopefully at fifteen she's grown out of it, but there are tasteful pictures around somewhere ready for a future husband's amusement).

Speaking of which, my fairer-sex friends...ever seen one of these:

According to the Mythbusters...your fear may not be all that irrational:

That's NOT brown toothpaste on yer brush, Agent B! [mythbustersresults.com]

How did I know that this conversation would make INAA's ears burn laugh out loud

No brown toothpaste here, only crest (and LOTS of it Whistling)... remember, I have a "lid closed" rule that I strictly enforce.

Good to see you round these parts. How's little Rylen doing? And the rest the fam?
