All you folks who hang out in the Target coupon thread, start hanging out here instead! When you've got something relevant to post about Target coupons, please post about it in the Target coupon thread! This is a pretty old cemetary. The first cemetary in the state to allow black people to be buried in it - that's how old it is - though I suppose historically speaking, probably not that old. I'm guessing that most of the affected sites were the older ones that maybe just don't have many, if any, visitors anymore, although there are reports that many, many grave markers are just "missing". There was a pile of them on the property. An area that was designated for babies only is completely gone. It's a real mess. I couldn't imagine going through what these families are going through. I'm not good with cemetaries/death/funerals - I don't go to funerals at all - that's probably why this is having such an affect on me. Normally I just shake my head at the stupid atrocities that people commit and move on - this one is rocking me to my core.

I can't even imagine what the families are going though. I sorta of remember the families in the cremation case being really freaked out when they found out their family member wasn't cremated, but lying almost thrown on the ground behind the crematory. Sick what is done for money, and it just makes me mad, because the funeral business shouldn't be hurt that bad by a bad economy seeing as people are unfortunately always passing away so they would never run out of business. Yes maybe someone might opt for a cheaper casket or something, but they still have to pay all the funeral costs. If you ask me they have made the cost of buring a loved one crazy, and they have made it much more complex than it has to be. Of course they are in it for the money like all other business I guess.

In the case of the cremations I can't remember if it talked about if any of the families got the ashes of the loved ones. I know a lot of times they do. I bet there was some p*ssed off people when they realized that Uncle Dave wasn't in the urn, but instead dumped on the ground. They interviewed some of the families and they were rightfully very angry and wanted justice for their loved ones! Quite sad what people do for money I agree.

Hey Thanks! I did make about $100 so I am glad I did it ... just trying to figure out how to make it better. Maybe you guys would have some advice. I had gently used baby/toddler clothes that I priced .25 and then a few brand new items that the girls never wore that I priced for $1. Most of my stuff was priced $1 - but I have to figure out how to get more traffic .... I in town but no one comes down my road! And a bunch of stuff didn't move ... I don't think I sold a single razor at all and I priced them $3 or 4/$10 ... do you think that was unreasonable? I will be out tomorrow again --- so wondering if I should just make them $1??? I priced most stuff at $1 (Listerine, toothpaste, air freshners, candles, shampoo, deodorant, & bandaids) and still did not sell a lot ... of course I had the problem of not many customers - but still. Do you guys think I am doing something wrong?

Ok - two questions - where do you guys go to order coupons early/do you just wait until Sunday when they become avail?

Quote from crazy4vs :
Did you look on the top shelf in the aisle where the ziploc's and hefty's are? That is where they are here.

There is a $2 degree TQ on redplum site.
THANK YOU & THANK YOU!!! I did not specifically look at the top shelf --- I will however go back and look again Smilie And I was able to print 2 of the Degree - THANKS!!!

No kidding kmart doubles is killing me, and I have stuff everywhere now. In the Kitchen in bags everywhere, in the garage and totally covering the basement. I am so tired, but I have to get ready for the sale I am having tomorrow to get some of this stuff gone, so I have room to move around!
Man - where is the coupon that will make them build a Kmart here???? Actually YEARS ago we used to have a KM but it went out of business so I am thinking that it is unlikely we shall ever get another Frown

Quote from love2beeamom :
I had my first stockpile/yard sale this weekend too.. I made $1000.00 and about $850.00 of it was stockpile stuff ... This was my best yard sale ever. Our house has never been a good location, but this time we had it at a friends house on the main road. it was a pain to move everything, but it was worth it in the end..
WOW WOW WUBBZY!!!!!! That is one FANTASTIC garage sale! WTG! You should be proud!!! I gotta figure this stuff out! Do you guys have particular things which sell better than others? You know what did sell for me was the Contour meters ... I had 10 and I sold them for a dollar each and a chap bought all of them. I think that was my best seller! LOL

When you said it was a great location - what type of neighborhood is the best do you think? I have one friend who lives close to downtown in neighboring Madison and she lives near student housing for UW Madison ... do you think that would be a better neighborhood to sell stuff?

As far as location goes, I live at the end of the street in a subdivision. The 2 previous sales I had really weren't great at all. This time a friend from church offered her house. She lives on a major road.. actually the intersection of 2 roads, on the corner. Alot of traffic comes by the house. We advertised on Craig's List 2 days before the sale. Otherwise, we only had one sign up in front of the house, but it was HUGE! We did a multi family sale, so there was alot of different stuff out there and we were very visible. I was the only one selling new stuff. My van was totally full, and my hubby loaded his car up twice with stuff! I can't believe I sold so much.
I posted all the details in the garage sale thread in the DS forum, here is the link
https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=21169283&postcount=1082

BTW, my meters flew for 3.00! And I sold a ton a razors.. can't wait to restock with the upcoming GC dealBig Grin Personally, I would not sell them for 1.00, I just think that is too low.. Maybe tomorrow will be a better crowd for you.hug

I was talking today with a lady who is a "professional garage sale" person around here.. she says sales do better on Thursday/ Friday for her and her friends always.. we did friday/saturday and friday was the better of the 2. May try Th/Fr next time.

For all those with a Publix, I noticed there is a b2g1 pepsi coupon (16) in the new advantage flyer I got tonight..

Hmm... interesting. Thanks for the info.

DH takes aspirin occasionally, and I have a friend who's dog takes it regularly. Probably find a Wags/CVS deal cheaper if we wait, eh?

Wow, they make a lot of stuff.

Sounds like a complete success! Good job. Applause Funny how things are different in different areas. My GF swears she cannot sell make up. She live in NJ. I sold it really well. Dontknow

Quote from dpags :
I'm absolutely sickened by this while Cemetary thing. This is truly a new low - If you haven't heard the story, it's about a cemetary in Chicagoland where the office manager corroborated with 3 groundskeepers and dug up bodies/caskets and dumped the bodies and crushed caskets in a weeded area on the property. In some places they just smashed down the caskets deeper into the holes and put other caskets on top of them. Just unreal - unimaginable and sick as sick can be. The mastermind office manager is in a psych ward right now - all of this in the name of money.
Psych ward? Whatev. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) He knew what he was doing. It is bad but to me not as bad as the story a couple of years back where they were digging up cadaver parts for transplants. EEK!

Quote from gypsylady :

Doing something wrong? Absolutely not. I think all you need is to get them there and those razors will fly. Crazy did real well and she had a darn security gate issue to contend with. In OK, we ran an ad in the local paper. I advertised "Mostly New Items." Also listed the address so people with GPS's could get there. And we put up signs at the major intersections. It was amazing. nod

Someone else suggested Craig's List. I think that is terrific too.

As far as buying q's early. Absolutely. As soon as I see them listed with my fave sellers.
