This thread is being created so people -- generally, those people who can't seem to resist talking about off-topic junk in the Target coupon thread -- have a place to talk about shopping at Target and other miscellaneous matters.
All you folks who hang out in the Target coupon thread, start hanging out here instead! When you've got something relevant to post about Target coupons, please post about it in the Target coupon thread! We'd love to hear about it, but NOT about your dog, your cat, your mom, your genital herpes, your... well, you get the idea.

Thrifty - sorry you had a crappy day yesterday - nice of the kids to throw a party like that.... but sorry you got stuck on chaperone duty. Good for you on the maternity leave - I was getting a little worried about you - hope you feel better soon!!!

Two weeks ago my MIL friend/classmate had a bday party for her 2 y/o...my MIL invited all 4 of my kids, keep in mind my MIL is 52 and her classmate is 23 with 2 kids and on her 3rd DH, I have baby sat her kids b4 and MIL has playdates with mine and hers.
Luckily she tells me the day Im at K for the additional 50% toys sale so I find a nice set of Elmo car thingies all super cheap! I paid less for all 4 things for his bday gift than I budgeted --- lets just say I got the 4 playtowns and wrapping paper and 4 gift bags ALL for less than $20..
The friend/classmate gets all upset (behind my back to my MIL) that each of my 4 kids brought a gift for her bday boy. I had reassured her it was no trouble I love doing it.
Now for the ??? I honestly felt obligated for each of my kids to bring a gift, Am I the only one that finds the "gift" like that childs and parents admission fee to the party?
This girl is in a poor situation, rents a run down trailer, has an abusive DH who is the baby daddy to only one of the kids so the other is neglected by the full-time live-in daddy while his son is cherished, she just finished CNA class and got her 1st job but has no car.....
They threw a decent party with burgers and hot dogs on the grill served with buns and chz and let, tom, onion ketchup and mustard, about 20 2l of soda with cute matching party cups and plates and decor and a big sheet cake.
I have had super expensive parties b4 and have had parents DROP OFF (not even stay and watch) thier own kids PLUS try to leave one or 2 extra UNINVITED siblings! while bring one crappy dollar store gift not even wrapped in gift wrap just left in the dollar general bag. I dont want to seem like a greedy brat, thats why Im asking but I only did what I would want/expect of anyone coming to my kids party.
Opinions!?! Am i just a brat? (hope not
-1 Q for a free box of Rice Krispies (up to $5) - it's an 01
-some Qs for $1/1 rice krispies
Can someone tell me, is Sobe still giving GC's?
Thrifty, I hope you start feeling better very soon.
Everyone would try to squish it on their screen
BF, I'm with you, if you are invited to a party whatever kind it may be it is common courtesy to bring a gift to the host or guest of honor. Whether that be flowers, a bottle of wine, b-day gift etc. Now the quality of said gift is up to the budgetary discretion of the giver. I am normally a "the more the merrier" type of host but get irked if I am used as a babysitter. I don't mind if parents leave, I actually find that easier, but don't drop off all your kids!
Oh and another thing about yesterday. Mini's BFF really did a lot of work and 2 other friends minimally helped her. She called me on Thursday night stressed out that she couldn't get ahold of one of the girls and her mom. This girl commited to picking up the cake. I ended up picking up the cake only after being put behind schedule by this same girl and mom going to Walmart at the time Mini was supposed to go to their house as a decoy to the surprise party.
And for the coupon abusers, if you will notice... most of the have you ring up a gift card as the first item and most of the time those gift cards are for around $10. This helps for their "overage" not to show and so their total will not go under $0. .
