This thread is being created so people -- generally, those people who can't seem to resist talking about off-topic junk in the Target coupon thread -- have a place to talk about shopping at Target and other miscellaneous matters.

All you folks who hang out in the Target coupon thread, start hanging out here instead! When you've got something relevant to post about Target coupons, please post about it in the Target coupon thread! We'd love to hear about it, but NOT about your dog, your cat, your mom, your genital herpes, your... well, you get the idea.

I get so leery of people using belt positioning boosters for little (like under 5 yrs old) children because it's a "big" kid seat.
I agree. DS asked me the other day when he could ride in cousin Woo's (Will's) seat. I have a booster for him that I keep in my van. I told DS that he would be in his 5 pt. seat (Marathon) until he was at least 5 years old. 5 straps/5 years. He just said "oh-tay".

I've got the Sunshine Kids Radian one for DD and it has been working great!
That is a great seat! We have those for the kids in addition to our britax seats. They are heavy as a truck, but great for traveling because they fold. We don't travel much, but my kids don't go on any trips without our own carseats. Smilie

Wow, I'm second guessing turning DD around now. All 3 boys turned as soon as they could. I did it more for my convenience, It was easier to hand them things and see them.

Since Kasey's death I have been worried about accidents. She was properly restrained in the back seat of a 2001 Ford Focus. The drunk driver overcorrected and hit her right on Kasey's door at full speed impact. It completely dislodged her from her belt positioning booster and threw her into her brother's lap. Thinking back...I wonder if being rear facing would have produced a different outcome?? I'm not second guessing BFF's decision to forward face because she is a wonderful mother who even is a blogger on many breastfeeding websites. BUT, it does make me think twice.
There is nothing that is guaranteed to keep them from harm, but I just try to do everything I can to stack the odds in our favor. Once your kids are past the RF'ing limits of a seat, extended harnessing is the next best thing. I know my kids will be bugging me about boosters when they are a bit older, but they can bug me until they are blue in the face and it won't do them any good Teehee

Ok... so here is my hypothetical question for you guys. Let's say I buy a Marathon at 15% off and then keep it for a few weeks and then return it to my local tar-ghetto and try to do a sneaky return/rebuy the next day. Will it be marked whatever I returned it at, whatever the last price was at that store, or what it "should be" according to the markdown schedule?

Will it even be there the next day?

Me, too!
I have these 2 girls that live next door, one is 8 and one is 6 (my son's age) and they are bigger (weight and height) than my kids. once I was getting the kids in the car and the little neighbor girl (the younger one) askes, "why is he still in a baby seat?" (it was his britax marathon). I just said, "It's his big kid seat, it just has extra staps cause we are so short." LMAO
Part true (we are really short) but also cause she said it in a trying-to-make-fun-of-it kind of way. Until son reaches the weight limit, he is going to be 5 point harnessed it. Even if he is 8........hehehehe.

I have the Graco Nautilus 3 in 1 and it is ok ... sturdy-wise it is fantastic ... but I am thinking the straps of the 5 pt are getting a wee bit tight and I don't think that is very good. SIGH ... the eternal quest for the perfect car seat. My kids are always BIG for their ages so they are tall & heavy which sometimes makes fitting them in stuff a little more challenging.

Totally agree. My kids tended to outgrow by height and weight long before the average. My youngest is the only tall AND lanky one so he will long outgrow by height before weight. Since I had the choice of a Britax Marathon and the Graco Nautilus in the clearance, I tried both of them out. The Nautilus has about 1/2 inch more height in the harness. He'll still outgrow the height long before 65 lbs. The Evenflo seat is "supposed" to be 50 lbs and 50 inches for the harness but ds was within 2 inches of outgrowing it.

Seriously, I'm ready for some smackdown. It helps reign the thread in a bit. The thread reaches new levels during toy clearance and Christmas and various hot deals through out the year. Lot's of peeps that are just there for a quick deal. Need to be reminded of the rules of the thread.
