I am sure I'll be a mess when DD gets on that flight all by herself with no airline assistance in 1.5 weeks. She's never flown through Phoenix. She is independent and I know she'll be fine.
Hope she has a safe flight. Is she going to be home for the arrival of your new one?

And LALALALALA my oldest has less than 3 years before she can drive. I don't think I'm anywhere near being ready. EEK!

My ds is18 now. He got to fly from Milwaukee to Oregon all by himself at 16, so he could visit his dad there for Christmas. The plane couldn't land in Denver. Was diverted to the south. The kid ended up in Spokane with no more outgoing flights on Christmas day. He was able to call dad, I think he had a calling card on him. His dad called the airlines and gently reminded them that they had a minor stranded in their airport. The airline put him in a hotel and feed him. He even made in on the morning flight out to Oregon. Kiddo was so proud of himself. Me, scared silly.Insane

Now he is 18. Before he left for boot camp. He went on the Metro down to Chicago to meet up with his girlfriend. Yikes! All I did was drop him off at a Park and Ride lot; where a Express Bus takes him to Milwaukee. He was to go from bus station to Amtrak station to Chicago, then take another bus line to be near her house. Then return back to Milwaukee by 10 to check in at hotel in Milwaukee to get shipped off for basic training.

My last memory of seeing him was watching him board that Express bus on July 1 Crying I am waiting for November 7, because I think he will be home then.

So what had happened was that a plane landing at Midway had run through the retaining wall and OUT ONTO THE STREET that runs right next to the airport. We actually drove right by it and boy was it weird seeing an airplane sitting on an otherwise busy city street like that. The sad thing was that a child who was in a parked car on the street was killed by the impact. Sadwalk
OMG! December 8, 2005. I was driving right through that area when it happened! I had to drive downtown in that snowstorm - the snow started about 3:00 or so. Huge snowflakes just as I was leaving the O'Hare area. By the time I got onto the highway there was about a foot of snow on the ground, at least it seemed like it. I made it to the interview downtown at the Chase Building and by the time I was done about 2-1/2 hrs later the entire city was blanketed by who knows how much snow! I had to get off the highway going back home because it was just too dangerous and somehow I ended up way the hell over there - this crash happened RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME (I was about 3 blocks back when the airplane slid across the street). I believe the family was actually stopped a red light when they were hit. Could you even imagine? That poor family!! They were probably excited watching the plane land - then terrified when it never stopped.

That was one hell of a snowstorm and one hell of a ride home that night - I'm never afraid to drive in weather - but that night (and one really, really rainy night in Pennsylvania) was an exception.

Wow, recalling that whole thing just sent a chill down my spine. Can't believe I ever got on another airplane after that. Now to go to sleep and not have nightmares.

Sorry you almost missed your graduation - what school?

Can someone convince me to not buy 2 new carseats??

I really need one for an older (but petite) girl to leave here, and one for my df's truck. I eyeballed them today, but convinced myself to not buy them...Now I am trying to convince myself again to not buy them.

She is over the age of 5, but due to her being petite she will be in a booster seat until she reaches 65 pounds. My state law is absurd (at age 4 they can sit with just a seat belt? WTF?!?! Do people not realize the injuries a child can recieve? I would rather my child be 12 and in a booster seat than 4 and dead!) so this is a personal decision. blah!

I got some clearance toys today. Litterally that is all. I had to return some clothes I bought for above said child (from a non-coupon run, mostly play clothing but some for back to school). Looks like we can't shop at Target for clothing until above child grows. 4t is extremely short and a tad big in the waist. 5t is (circo) too loose and just right length, 5t (cherokee/oshkosh) is too loose and too short. Forget XS. I bought a bunch of clearanced stuff and not one item fit her. I am not even beginning to hold onto it. It was mostly play stuff anyhow. I got a bunch of her back to school clothing @ some boutiques up north, that was some fun shopping!

Thrifty- Not much longer!

Has anyone heard from Teri? Is she okay?

Seems like every thread I am actively participating in someone else joins in too...quite weird.

Wave Hey all!! I am just checking in here. Should be working (or sleeping) but I had a migraine and had to call off for the night. Then I slept all day trying to get rid of said migraine. Oh well. I had to post bc I am ALWAYS typing smilie codes in my FB status laugh out loud I figure that most of my SD friends on FB will get it and who cares if the others dont Dontknow laugh out loud Oh well.
About the kids flying, Alexa has done it every year (summers) by herself since she was like 7 I think. The hardest time for me was last summer when she took her sister with her. It was hard bc Soph was only a year and a half old at the time. I had to put my 2 sisters (ages 15 and 13 at the time), Alexa (10 at the time) and Soph all on the plane. Soph was oblivious to what was happening, but I was Weeping the whole time. laugh out loud J was a good guy though, he took me to a bunch of far away T's to make up for it on the drive home. It was during the big pamper deal from last summer, so we did VERY well at all the stores. heart He can be such a good guy when he wants to be Love

new coupon books at Kmart- many man Q's including:
Cesar - any Bistro Canine Entree - B2G1 up to $1.19 (ends in a 16)

woot woot Now if I can only find some.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but T has some Venus razors on TPC for $5.94 comes with a razor and shaving get, use $3 MFQ - $2 TQ (found in the College 09 bedspread coupon book) so .94 cents. Not free, but would be able to sell at a GS for a good profit.

Also found a bunch more toys like DS mentioned, hiding in regular toy isles. Also found some on endcaps located in housewares bedding.

Hey Trang, where you hiding... miss ya.

Thanks to all the reg. TCC's for the laughs tonight. LMAO

Lucky me, I have an OB apt tomorrow right near my K. Guess I won't be dressing up for that!
