Hey everyone! Wave

Just wanted to report that I had my first GS today and made $265 in 4 hrs. It was rainy and humid (97%) when I opened up my garage at 9. Didn't have many shoppers but those that shopped spent a good $30-$40 on average. Best sellers were Electrasol (sold almost all to one person at $2 ea. for the boxes that were $2.50 (free) last year) - Ziploc bags priced at $2, Dawn dish soap, larger bottles at $1.00 and smaller at .75. Maxwell House coffee at $4. A couple of razors, not many, at $4. Only sold 4 packs of diapers EEK!! Oh, and sold a couple sippy cups for $3/pk.

It was so damn humid that I couldn't even write on paper - the paper was just too wet!! All of signs were curling so I went inside (ah, air!) cut up a bunch of sheets of flourescent pink paper into 1/4s, made a sign out of each and stuck each one into a Ziploc sandwich bag. Permanent signage! I also made posterboard signs for my car (which I parked at the end of my block) and did you know that those XXL Ziploc Bags fit a poster board with just enough room to flip the zipper side back for a nice clean and moisture proof sign? Wink

I hung baggie signs on bins and let people dig for what they wanted - no one seemed to mind. For the tables that I set up with all $2 or all $1 items, I made signs out of full sheets of paper (flourescent pink or orange) and put them in sheet protectors. More "permanent" signage! I'll be out there again for a little while tomorrow but it's supposed to be something like 96 degrees with the same humidity so I'm not hopeful that it will be much better. I did have 2 people ask me if I did this "regularly" and I told them that I'll probably start doing it once a month or so - should have set out an e-mail signup sheet but it was too hot to think straight. I'll have to do that tomorrow (if I can stick it in a Ziploc! laugh out loud).

Thanks for all the support guys!!

Good job! wootIt sucks to have a GS in the heat. The 2 I have had this year ,both days we had record breaking temps. Mad

Every day is different. What sells one day might not the next and what didn't sell the first time you will probably sell out of the next time. Good luck!

That's what I figure... car payment 1, done; 59 more to go vomit . LMAO!

Hey - Jewel has $2/1 Clorox coupons in their paper this week but they are small as hell and don't scan - plus they have no numbers for the cashier to input! EEK!! But they have a "Free Clorox Bleach wyb Pine-Sol"; Size 44600-01 in their "Spotlight" flyer Wink. Want some? They exp 8/31.

I had a garage sale today, too. It's strange what does NOT sell around here. EEK! No one touched the Electrasol at $2 a box. I mean, not one box sold. But all cleaning supplies that I had flew out of here in the first hour.

Hey - Jewel has Clorox coupons in their paper this week - small as hell like the Dixies but these are even better - there are no numbers EEK!! So when they don't scan the cashier can't even just enter numbers! But, they redeem themselves by putting a larger version of the same coupon, with numbers, in their "Spotlight" flyer Wink. Want some? They are "01" Clorox with 8/31 exp dates.

edit: OK, I'm an idiot, the coupons in the weekly flyer are $2/1 Clorox, the ones in the Spotlight are "Free Clorox Bleach wyb Pine-Sol". Size 44600-01.
Those are both good coupons. Which one is missing the barcode?

WALOS, my first yard sale none of the Electrasol sold. Second one I sold a lot. But at $2 a box I would think people would be snatching it up. I don't understand how people think, that stuff is expensive if you have to pay full price for it EEK!

We had a garage sale today too. It was a beautiful day! Almost no humidity, lots of sunshine and a nice breeze. Not much left to sell since this is the 5th one we've had since April and this is mostly the stuff leftover... Razors, poo/conditioner, cleaning suppies, toys, etc. We sell the boxes of Electrasol for $1 a box and it sold. We tried selling it for $2 and no one even looked twice at it. We did ok, open from 10 AM to 3 PM and made $55x.xx woot

woot Yeah for you!! I need a nice comfortable day - and a Friday. I live on a horseshoe street that's pretty well into the neighborhood so if you're not looking for us, you won't really see us - except on a Friday. People seem to come out of the woodwork on Fridays....

High Five Great job! We always have a sign up that says "sign up for our email list." We have quite a few email addresses and always send out a nice note a day or two before our sale. Surprisingly, lots of people are eager to sign up.

We've been doing GSs all summer (about 1 a month) and the thing I've noticed is that what doesn't sell at one sale will be your best seller at the next. Sometimes you need to adjust your price, but sometimes it's just what people are (or aren't) looking for on that day. Wink

Acme's got the same Q in their ad this week. Have you tried scanning it (I can't remember if you have handheld scanner at home or not.... I know some people on here do).

I'm just asking before I run out to Acme to stock up on $2 Clorox Qs for K doubles! TIA!

Also, to those whom I've promised Dixie envies, I double-promise they'll be headed out in the next couple of days. In the past week, I've had to deal w/a death in the family, a birthday in the family, and money-making CAT deals at Acme! I'm so sorry for the delay... but they *are* coming!

Sweet! That's what I need to do to feel good about this - it just sucked ass outside today (censor THAT, SD!) Teehee

I'll definately do an e-mail sign-up next time. I meant to this time but had humid brain. I can't wait for some of this to sell... I need some of my space back - although I picked up a bunch of totes so I can actually organize stuff now laugh out loud.

For those that don't get an early edition paper, the RP has some great BOGO Purina coupons this week. I need to get more copies. Cool
