Well I've seen all different kinds of reactions by kids.

I come from a family of 11. We all ate the same meals at the same time.

Yet one child became a self-proclaimed vegetarian.

While her sister only 1.5 years younger refused to eat anything that even seemed to be a veggie. In fact, when she was a toddler she would separate the 'colorful' pasta by putting all the green ones to the side.

Of course, I also want to add that it isn't all personality. I very clearly remember my dad ordering a pizza with anchovies and mushrooms. We were all sitting around the kitchen table when my mom promptly declared that she hated anchovies and mushrooms. Literally one by one all the little kids pushed their plates away or put their pizza down lol. My poor dad was outnumbered. To this day I do believe they've never ordered another anchovy and mushroom pie.

When I was pregnant, even the thought of brocoli was disturbing. So not surprisingly, DD hates brocoli. She will spit it right out. But she does seem to like other veggies, especially peppers.

I haven't even gotten a chance to get to Walgreens in the last couple of days ... I am hoping to get there tomorrow (cross fingers that all wee ones are in the mood to HELP Mum at the store!) I am sorry all your stuff was gone - that sucks! Do you think that your stores might get more shipments before the end of Sat? I will be sending positive thoughts your way!

I have 22 of the B2G1 Starbucks coupons for trade nod I don't drink coffee but I picked these up anyways (couldnt just leave them there) Exp: 9/30/09 upc: 512000725161

I also have 50 of the Fuel for School booklets intact. I have no need for this many so if anyone needs some I am also looking for:
3 Musketeers, Snickers, Twix, or Milky Way single bars, any 2 oz - 2.13 oz $1 on 2 (8-23-09) V 7/26/09
Air Wick Freshmatic Ultra i-Motion Starter Kit $6 (9/20/09) SS 8/9/09

or the 3/2 Huggies Pullup wipes coupons

Also does anyone know if Kmart carries Banana boat trial sizes? I found a whole tearpad of $2/1 no size restrictions bounce

Thanks Smilie

I was thinking that it was Friday today! UGH!
I really need a 75/100 this week. I have 2 bday parties and 2 baby showers in the next 2 weeks!

Morning Peeps!look around

Question time. I kinda had a good run yesterday but.....the cashier at the end of the transaction put on the "Light of Death".
Now this is my closest Target. So it is not too good to be a bad girl here. Next closest Target doesn't even carry food. Well two aisles if you call that food and those two stores are 30 minutes apart from each other!

So....I was thinking I want a run with no B2G1 coupons, that Evil cashier did not like puppy food.
My run I am thinking of is CWS, tide, bounty and Airwick and anything else I can put in there? I want all coupons to total the item close to free as possible. Hopefully I can find Evil nazi cashier and have her scan away. I know the kashi and bliss candy is expire. Just thinking hmmm what can I do to have a super transaction with LOD and nazi cashier?

Sorry, I'm no help Koenney... I need some advice too. Feel lke I've been out of the game for eons. Frown Car repairs have us super short on $$ (my extra deal money got recalled!), so I'm trying to stretch it big time. Frustrating without $$ for q's!

As for getting kids to eat veggies - I think it's a trial and error thing. I can remember having a strong gag reflex with green beans. Lots of nights sitting at the table staring at a plate of beans getting colder and colder... Now they are one of my favorite veggies. Some kids have color or texture issues, some don't like certain tastes, etc... I am a firm believer in offering veggies often and in great variety. I am, however, not above "hiding" them in healthy things. While I'd love for my kids to opt to eat them (one does, the other does sometimes), I dont mind slipping some in unbeknownst to them. Here are some ideas (and use your best judgement as some may be better for younger or older kids - depending on teeth, etc...)

Veggie trays - fresh veggies with dips
Frozen veggies - for some reason kids like 'em that way
Cooked veggies with cheese
Marinated or pickled veggies
Stir Fry dishes/fried rice with finely chopped veggies
Veggies with sauces
Veggie juice (you can make your own)

And, of course, hide 'em. One of the easiest ways to do that is to shred veggies and add to everything you can think of. Also, while not a veggie it's a bit healthier - you can use applesauce instead of oil in most baking recipes (muffins, pancakes, cookies, etc....)

We do veggie packed oatmeal cookies, muffins, and pancakes. I make my own spaghetti sauce and add shredded veggies (squash, zucchini, carrot, etc...) Everyone says it's the best sauce they've ever had. Soups make it easier to slip the veggies in - especially if you do the work of pureeing them. Oh, and shredded/finely chopped veggies hidden under a layer of cheese on a pizza goes a long long way.

Sungoddess~ the lazy mom's way of shoving in the veggies....put V8 juice in things she does like. Spaghetti, lasagna, homemade soups, ravioli...

They also love anythng they can dip. Apples/yogurt, carrots/Ranch dressing, Broccoli/cheese

Any advice?
I have a very unique 4 year old. He will vomit if he eats anything besides pizza, fish sticks, chicken nuggets, bread, yogurt, fruits and sweets. He will absolutely not eat any "real" meat (spaghetti, hamburgers, soup, chicken, etc)

He is the only child in his class that will gag at the sight of his lunch. He will sit and stare at his plate for dinner but he refuses to eat it. He will eventually get hungry and eat some, but throws it back up.
None of his food can touch or he freaks. Nothing can break or he freaks. Like if a banana or breadstick breaks...
He is uber smart for his age. He amazes everyone he speaks to. Now he is my 3rd of 4 children, and they are all smart kids (I know every parent thinks their kids are smart) but this one will blow your mind. nod Not genius level or anything, but very gifted.
His school last year had him tested and they were shocked. He seems easily distracted and he talks constantly and very loud. I was worried maybe he was autistic?? His behavior is...ok. He has no understanding of waiting. If his mind tells him to say something, he will interrupt and say it. He becomes hyper focused and obsessed with stimulations like video games. We had to put a lock on my 13 year olds door so he could keep the video games in there to play. We cannot go by the electronics in stores or we have a nuclear meltdown. It's like he needs his crack or something. Anyway...advice?

Does he have issues with textures? As in textures of certain clothing or foods? Any obsession with numbers, like having to have the number on the clock at 3:33, 2:22, etc., fascination with ticker tape signs (the rolling red signs), etc... From what you have said, I would keep a watch on him. It might just be his behaviour, or it could be a mild form of autism, or something like aspergers (mild form of autism), or maybe OCD hug hug

Super Nanny? Big Grin

I feel your frustration...

Every kid is different in how we, as parents, deal with them. I have a DD who loves to push the limit. We have to constantly figure out a way to be 1 step ahead of her...

I know some of you are doing what we are doing now--organizing stockpiles and getting ready for end of summer sales. As we've been doing that, we decided no more food stockpiling. There is way too much expired stuff. So what is working is that if there is a food MM or free and I need fillers, I'll get it and not even bring it home, just bring it right to the shelter. There are several around here and man do they seem to be needier than ever.

I have tons of those FFS booklets, there better be a GC deal or something.
