Does he have issues with textures? As in textures of certain clothing or foods? Any obsession with numbers, like having to have the number on the clock at 3:33, 2:22, etc., fascination with ticker tape signs (the rolling red signs), etc... From what you have said, I would keep a watch on him. It might just be his behaviour, or it could be a mild form of autism, or something like aspergers (mild form of autism), or maybe OCD hug hug
I see a LOT of different kids, and from what little behavior you've described it does sound like aspergers or ocd. I would question how good your pediatrician is and your school system's special education department is if they have not contacted you yet for special testing at the request of his teacher. If it were my child I would have him evaluated at my closest children's hospital. I know kids that eat like that and it doesn't sould like his behavior is food related. Most autistic kids I know do like the computer and an older asperger child (11-12) I know is about 5 years ahead of his classmates on a computer, it's evidently his favorite activity at home. He's very book smart, not socially smart. This same child went un-evaluated & un-medicated until 4th grade (mother's denial) and was quite a behavior problem, sometimes violent towards his classmates, and would get upset very easily. Now with a little medication and some behavior management coordinated by the special ed teacher, he is much improved. If I were you, I wouldn't expect a cure, I'd hope for ways to manage his behavior to make things easier for him AND you. I'd expect work and trial and error. Good luck and God Bless.

Aw hun, I wish I could find the bat for you! I even asked Alexa the other day if she still needed her bat since she has soooo many, and she said that yes she still played with it. She then asked why, and I told her and she said she would send it to you, but I told her that I knew you would never want it if she was still playing with it. Just was checking in with her laugh out loud

That is so not not cool! I don't mention something about a woman being pregnant unless she is practically bustin' that baby out in front of me. I would never want to be wrong like that shake head

Any advice?
I have a very unique 4 year old. He will vomit if he eats anything besides pizza, fish sticks, chicken nuggets, bread, yogurt, fruits and sweets. He will absolutely not eat any "real" meat (spaghetti, hamburgers, soup, chicken, etc)

He is the only child in his class that will gag at the sight of his lunch. He will sit and stare at his plate for dinner but he refuses to eat it. He will eventually get hungry and eat some, but throws it back up.
None of his food can touch or he freaks. Nothing can break or he freaks. Like if a banana or breadstick breaks...
He is uber smart for his age. He amazes everyone he speaks to. Now he is my 3rd of 4 children, and they are all smart kids (I know every parent thinks their kids are smart) but this one will blow your mind. nod Not genius level or anything, but very gifted.
His school last year had him tested and they were shocked. He seems easily distracted and he talks constantly and very loud. I was worried maybe he was autistic?? His behavior is...ok. He has no understanding of waiting. If his mind tells him to say something, he will interrupt and say it. He becomes hyper focused and obsessed with stimulations like video games. We had to put a lock on my 13 year olds door so he could keep the video games in there to play. We cannot go by the electronics in stores or we have a nuclear meltdown. It's like he needs his crack or something. Anyway...advice?
It is tough to tell with kids at that age - they can all be pretty "unique." But that said, I agree with others in that you might want to have him evaluated. He might just have his own oddities (like all of us Wink ), but if there is more to it. It's better to know that now so you can encourage and foster his strong areas and also work on areas that he has difficulties.

Regarding the food issues, kids on the autism spectrum often have comorbid GI conditions or intolerances. Does he throw the food up because he knows he ate something that he didn't want to eat, or is there something in the food that he ate that is causing the emesis? My guess is that it is the former, since you mention that he will eat chicken nuggets, but not an actual piece of just chicken.

But if she happens to set it down for a moment Evillaugh

J/k, but the thought of that made me chuckle since my kids are always doing that - if someone sets something down for even a moment, it's fair game (in their eyes). laugh out loud

Hey Guys - can you spare some positive thoughts -

One of our dogs (a small grey & white sheltie) was stolen out of our backyard last night - I know he is a cutie and super sweet (for those who know show sheltie dogs he was one of those) but he is older & a rescue. Anyway - I take turns letting the dogs out so they each have their own time outside in the fenced yard to do their thing and also have run around time. They have plenty of outside time to play together.

Anyway - he is always the last one out in the rotation and he went out and was outside for about 45 min. When I went to get him he was NOT in the yard anywhere. The gates are all still closed there are NO holes (but he wasn't a digger anyway) and there is no way he got out and closed the gate himself.

I drove around for several hours last night hoping that some weird way he had gotten out. He has twice in the past gotten out of the garage but then he promptly comes and sits at the front door expectantly waiting to get in LOL. Anyway - I gave up at 5am and didn't find him anywhere - so I have to go to the police department (where they won't care a fig anyway) and make a report. Sigh .... please think positive thoughts!

I am going to put up posters asking for his return - keep your fingers crossed!

It is. When he was 9 months old he was just getting in to size 0's for newborns laugh out loud DD was like a mini elephant after caring for ds LMAO
The SIL was just the opposite. First Chilld DS was 2nd largest child in the history of the hospital (something like 14lbs, 12 oz) when he was born. He was too big for 6 month clothes. Her very next child was 4lbs, 8 oz and we thought she was a china doll and we'd break her because she was so tiny (when compared to the gargantuan brother). They are both at least 6 ft tall now.

He memorizes everything. He is obsessed with planets right now. There order, rotation, temperature, etc. It used to me infomercials. By just looking at him socially, he seems fine. He goes regress around other children. He is 4 and 56 pounds. The largest kid in his class, but he backs down sometimes. Not always.
He is very sensitive to sound or touch. Even brushing his hair with a soft brush kills him. Just today he freaked in a public bathroom. He HATES them because the toilets are so loud. When Madelyn was tiny he would cry when she cried because of the sound.
Now he cries when she gets shots because he loves her so much heart He is different. I just can't quite put my finger on it though.

Yep, it's all in his head nod He despises anything that needs to be eaten with a fork or spoon.
