This thread is being created so people -- generally, those people who can't seem to resist talking about off-topic junk in the Target coupon thread -- have a place to talk about shopping at Target and other miscellaneous matters.

All you folks who hang out in the Target coupon thread, start hanging out here instead! When you've got something relevant to post about Target coupons, please post about it in the Target coupon thread! We'd love to hear about it, but NOT about your dog, your cat, your mom, your genital herpes, your... well, you get the idea.

I wonder if it's the show I'm thinking of where there was an episode of an older woman that hoarded food. She had so much expired food (the fridge/freezer was horrifying!!) it was nuts! She still wanted to keep the food and eat them even when they were expired by a few years. Even stuff that was in the fridge. There was a thick layer of meat juices at the bottom of her veggie drawers in the fridge. vomit Some of the helpers could not be in the same room cause it smelled so bad. It was pretty sad.

Oh yeah! She also had a pumpkin that was molded and soft and leaking all over her wood floors and she was so sad to see it go that she grabbed some of the pumpkin seeds (with her bare hands) buried in the icky mess. Cold
EEK! That is the episode. Her son told her he was throwing it ALL out and buying her new food. That house was disguisting!!!!!!!

I saw that episode when it first aired, a few weeks ago. I literally felt sick as I was watching that rotted food. It's sad to watch these people. I've only seen one person that truly appeared to have been cured at the end of their treatment. I think his story was aired on this same episode. He welcomed the cleaning, and hopefully will not go back to his old ways. His bathroom was disgunting!
His bathroom was enough to make you gag! He did seem really happy to have a fresh start and didn't seem disturbed to get rid of all the stuff. The apartment looked really good when they were done.

It was pretty bad. nod I haven't watched it since that episode...always seem to forget when it comes on. DH will come across it once in a while channel surfing, which is how we saw this particular episode. Was the guy one where he was starting to get pissed at all of his stuff being thrown out? And his young son was really sad about the play house that got destroyed and taken away? He really had a hard time about it, I remember. I think it was the same episode...

Whee Yeah, she was so upset about throwing out "perfectly good food" and did not want her son to spend any money replacing her food. She tied her hoarding to her want to be very independent or something like that. It truly was sad - and yeah, the house was pretty gross!

I saw the one with the hubby getting upset and the little boy. That house was pretty bad too. The wife was happy to get it cleaned up.

I watched 3 of the reruns this afternoon. Some of those people really need help. It's a sickness for sure that they can't/ won't part with the stuff. Hello it's just stuff..but I guess it's fills a void for them. Really pretty sad nod

I have some coupons for you. Maybe I can drop them off to you, and pick up your canned goods and bring them to the food panty for you. I am a SAHM so no problems with the hours. Which one were you planning on donating to? There are several in our area. Let me know what ya think.
You do? hug heart

I am going to drop this stuff off at the police station on Monday morning and they'll get it over to the Community Services people. I looked at the Hanover Township website this morning at about 11:30, right when they closed for the weekend - I was ready to drive it out there! But I guess I'll keep it in town - it's not the community's fault the administrators are heartless. I think the worst part was that there was absolutely no information on the community service website about hours or drop off location or anything - so I called and still no info - just that you need to call between 8:30-5 M-F. So I had to call the police station to find out where the thing even was!! The whole thing is pissing me off - I did write a nice e-mail to the administrator (her name was plastered all over the website - but no hours or addresses - bitch).

Ok - 2nd rant over laugh out loud .

PMing you......

ThanX Teri, now I'm walking around my house with shoes on, turning on every light, paraniod that I might step on Sparky II. I pulled all the plastic shoes boxes out of the coat closet, all the juice boxes and 2 ltrs were picked up off the pantry floor and he was still no where to be found (on this level anyway) unless he's under the stove, which this fat preggers girl isn't allowed to move, plus we made pizza and cake for dinner last night so he might have been cooked by proximity. Yum!

__________________________________________________________

Had a mini GS for 6 hours this morn...Tropical storm Danny scared all the usually morning business but I ended up w/ $300, which is good cause I just racked up a hell of a kohls charge bill. I figure, $50 a hour for sitting and sweating in this southern heat was a decent payday but Golly! how things change from GS to GS......

Last time I GSed I sold all my listerine and TB so I had been stocking up this past month (thanx Wags Big Grin) barely moved any!

What are peeps pricing the 2pk trial CWS at? I did $1.50 and sold ZERO but idk if I would even pay that !?! what about cranium games? I did $5 for cadoo and $7 for Wow! but no takers.

I marked down some razors to $1, most are $2 and fancy extra packaging ones are $4 and I noticed that I sold a lot more $2 razors then before and more than $1 razors --

I think I need more Pantene Hide They all seem to love it and only want it.

I know what you mean! I sold every last bottle I had, and they sent family members looking for more!!!

We have Del Monte here in town, and so there are tons of seasonal workers that hit the GS circuit like crazy people...gonna have to start seriously stockpiling for spring!

Hoarders have serious problems, most of it related to mental/emotional problems. I truly feel for them, as most do not understand the "bad" in what they are doing. It's a reason why most of us with stockpiles truly need to be careful. I think some of us may have some hoarding tendencies and the level of couponing that we participate in only encourages it more.

On the other hand, I wish to thank everyone in this thread for your help with my Target endevors. Unfortunately, I have had some time to contemplate my internet usuage (and my DD's) and have realized that it is now time to step back and reevaluate some things in my life. The last few days have been a complete blessing of feeling free, and unrestrained by an imaginary line from me to the computer.

So with that being said, I have decided to cut my internet down to Monday's only (which ties in with when the new Publix ad is posted) as well as my shopping.

Once again, thank you for all the help, it is very much appreciated!

THIS is exactly why I woke up at 5:30 this morning and cleaned out my pantry!! .... Yes, hoarding (to that degree) is not. good. Clutter actually makes me feel stressed out - anyone else?
I am sorry that you couldn't donate your stuff - it sucks when they make it super complicated!!! And I just wanted to say - I often feel as if I just don't qualify as a good stockpiler .... firstly because I just don't have the time to shop that I need & I have to come to the realization if I purchase coupons from ebay/whereever I have to look at my time because for the 2nd month in a row I will be throwing out a bunch of expiring Q's. But secondly and much more of an issue- stockpiles stress me out!!! I mean I LOVE LOVE LOVE (need) to save money .... but I can't tell you how HAPPY I feel when my little stockpiles dwindle and the house is more empty! ROFL! I must (at heart) be the opposite of a stockpiler! Anyway - that is my dark confession for the day in a room FULL of true stockpilers.

Quote from kopenney :
Just to let everyone know. I have made it to Week two .... My ear mold is done. I will be picking it up on Monday AFTER class. So that is good news.
Congrats on making it to week two!!!!! WTG!!! woot Yeah on the ear mold being finished!

A few weeks ago I posted my coupon box got taken from my cart in the K-mart parking lot, when I forgot about it and left ....
That is FREAKY!!! We don't have a Kmart .... but with shopping experiences like that maybe it isn't so bad? I really am sorry! hug If you are still short of stuff (as I am sure you are) PM me and let me know what you are looking for - if I have some I will mail them to you!

Off to rep you - you made me laugh SO HARD!!! That is hilarious - and sounds like something my 5 year old would say!

Every Friday for 19 weeks begining in September... Just in time for my new job
I am so so so sorry! But I am all for others suggestions - don't forget the shirt - don't shower - sit with a toothpick in your mouth - kick your feet up on the banister - make several loud snorts & gaffaws (as if the person speaking has just said the most ludicrous thing you have ever heard) and if that fails - pull out a wad of chaw & a cup & spit! LOL I really am sorry!!!

Quote from mofome :
So my DS came home from his 1st full day of kindergarten and tells me a boy hit him in his eye! Blackeye Shocking
As he keeps telling the story, turns out he hit the kid back! But it may or may not have resulted from him elbowing the kid (for what I can't figure out) first! This is so unlike my kiddo! I guess it was at dismissal while they were waiting for their rides, so the teacher wasn't even there, just whoever helps with dismissal. Then he also told me he got up during lunch and told someone he wanted to go outside and whoever it was yelled at him (according to him and he's very sensitive) "you're going to have to wait" and he said he went and put his head on his lunch bag and cried! Down So I would say today was not a good 1st full day of kindergarten!
OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Poor little guy! That is awful! Sending HUGS HUGS HUGS & positive thoughts for a better week next week! I sometimes really really hate the Public School System .... sigh!

Tags here are STILL $34.xx (our few remaining clearance toys are at 30%) --- I do NOT believe they will ever fall in price LOL Anyone got a TQ for $5 off the Tag they would like to trade - I think I will either have to pay this price or just skip it! LOL

I love to see the stockpile go to new homes though. I guess that's the difference between stockpilers and hoarders.
what channel, etc. is this?~?~? I remember watching the episode of Oprah that featured the older couple and their huge home was completely full of crap she had hoarded. I took so much stuff to the Goodwill after that.....actually, everyone I know that watched that episode did the same that week!! Shocking

Quote from crazy4vs :
It's a show that features compulsive hoarders OMG Like that couple that was on Oprah last year. Did you see that show?

Some of these houses you can't even walk in. That is truly scary stuff everywhere ceiling to floor in every nook and cranny of every room.

If you have A&E it's on now.
okay, A&E. Time and day it comes on? I shall DVR this......
