Interesting that you can find this link just Googling for "usps covid tests" but the official government website [covidtests.gov] still says it is not available until tomorrow. Typical. Thanks and repped.

Yes. They are rapid tests, lateral flow tests, that are administered at home and results within 15 minutes.

No, no one accepts the results from these at home tests since they aren't very accurate. Most people who need tests for travel or work using need something from a lab like a PCR test.
Not to mention that it would be the honor system; nobody is recording the outcome of your test.

Anyone else receive an error saying order already entered for their address when they know that they haven't actually ordered any? I am wondering if my order is hitting some other issue and reporting this error instead, because I definitely haven't ordered my tests yet, but get this message when I submit my order:

"Our records show that at-home COVID-19 tests have already been ordered for this address. We are unable to process duplicate orders for the same address."
This has been happening to some people who live in multi-units (i.e. apartments). Someone suggested trying to enter your unit number in the same line as the address (John St. #105).

Anyone know if these work for travel? I'm assuming not
I heard last week that you can use the antigen at-home rapid test and upload your result to the antigen app and print it out and use it for travel as long as you are vaccinated. I believe it also depends on the destination country whether they accept it or not.

So since there are 2 tests in 1 kit, does that mean we get 8 total per household?

Gee... that doesn't sound sketchy. These tests are the least reliable of all of them. And vaccination doesn't mean what it used to mean.

"They sometimes fail to detect COVID-19 early on, or in someone without any symptoms. They may also be less sensitive in detecting the omicron variant, the FDA said in late December."

Like why bother? Would anyone buy a pregnancy test that had the same subpar results?

It is 8 at-home tests per person per month if you order yourself (for purchases on or after Jan 15) and reimburse by your insurance later. So the verification of 8 at-home tests per person per month is done by your insurance. For free test directly from Federal government(USPS), it is 4 per household address no matter how many people live in that address. The verification of 4 at-home test per address looks like is done by USPS.

And like many said, this at-home rapid test (antigen) not accept by airline or foreign country travel. So still need to go to your local place that do PCR test if it is required by your company, airline, etc
Interesting. So do you think insurance and USPS are mutually exclusive? I'm not but I can theoretically buy additional test kits and reimburse through my insurance - in addition to the 4 test kits from USPS?

Live in an apartment building. So I'm also getting the "At-home COVID-19 tests have already been ordered for this address." error. Tried writing in APT # in first line with no help. Whatever validation rules they are using are crappy.

I know it does not make sense but each country is putting its own rules and guidelines. So it really depends on the destination country you are traveling to. In my case, I used it to travel to Lebanon last month and it was accepted because Lebanon allows it as long as you are fully vaccinated.

Weird. Says my address is registered as a business address when it isn't in reality 🙆
