Even if they said "NO" I would assumed as yes. Because who knows what they're running in the background. Every modern electronics doing the same thing.
Not EVERY...check the newest MI phone...
People prefer to save money, especially when there's little to no visibly discernable difference in image quality. What's the point of "true 4k" when you can't tell the difference unless you're sitting 2 feet away?
Actually...

For a 140" TV, you can see individual pixels from 8.1 ft away, which means you're getting a good value for 4k in the 8 to 16ish feet away range, which I think is probably where most people are watching TV.
I was at a friend's house where they had the space for a projector and speakers and it's a pretty nice experience. I'm personally still short about $1mil until I can afford a house with vertical and horizontal space like that in a living room, but eh.
There's probably an ideal price range for people where a 1080p or 4k projector is good for people trying to beat out like a 65" TV, and if they have a nice room with blinds for it it seems cool to have.
Honestly, I think a lot of living rooms can accommodate a projector like this, but you'd need to put up some blackout curtains, which may look tacky.

I've got a 152" screen in 1 of 3 living rooms in a house way under a million bucks. As a very general piece of advice, decide what you want in life, and then pay the price (time, money, effort, education, etc) required to obtain it.

on one main issue... I believe a cheap (about $1k) is NOT a long way off.
I also feel when you are watching a screen that is 150", you can tell the difference between 4K and 1080P.
