I bought two of these a few months back, you'll need space around and above it so it doesn't inadvertently open. Takes about a second to open when you hover over the sensor. One of the two is getting its lid stuck so I may need to exchange that one. Good concept but I'm not sure its more convenient than a foot-press lid opener.

I don't get these. We need a battery operated opener in place of a basic foot pedal? Are your feet holding trash too? I dunno...must just be me I guess

Not sure why poo poo a product because it doesn't fit your use case.

We have the 8 gallon version kept in a kitchen island that's elevated off the ground. Foot pedal wouldn't be very convenient so this works great. And it's been a year without needing a battery replacement yet.

This is a small trash can, so it might not always be on the ground. For reference, this is 3 gallon, a normal size trash is usually 13 gallons.

Wonder if it will go back to that price, this was back in August. I can wait, I don't have one now anyway.

All you need to do is wait another 6 months to a year. Obviously. 😂

Mine isn't on the ground and I have pets that get into trash.

These automatic bins pretty much exist for people with physical disability. Those in wheelchairs or otherwise unable to use their feet to open the bin.

This looks almost identical to one that I bought a Costco a couple of years ago..even the sensors are exactly the same.
I paid around $50-60 for mine but I have a strong suspicion that they're the exact same product.
They were probably made at the same factory in China and just branded differently.
Mine has held up really well. And I know it may make me sound kind of lazy but I love to just wave my hand over it and have the top open.
