The panel itself may be same/similar, but the 2021 4-series models are suppose to get brighter, have better reflection handling, have a quicker response time, and add eARC support. The Android TV (2020) and Google TV (2021) interfaces I guess can be a bit slow at times since these entry level TV's just don't have the processing power to handle them.

Dunno. Maybe because of the ease of use of the Roku TV interface on entry level models? Google TV and Android TV require more processing power than Roku TV.

Canceling the Amazon order and grabbing the Best Buy one based on rting reviews. Got an Nvidia Shield so I don't really need the built-in OS.

Just buy an inexpensive external 4k roku box and set the tv to start with the hdmi input you have the box connected to. I prefer the external boxes over roku tv's anyway. For one thing, the remote works rf radio frequency vs ir infrared.
If this is anything like my tcl roku tv, it works fine but the viewing angle is absolutely terrible. Unless you are viewing virtually straight-on, the colors are washed out.
But no question, its crazy inexpensive for a 75".

The backlight on my 65" 4-series went out the weekend of the college football championship game (and I'm a UGA fan). I called around and it's going to be about $250 to get it fixed but he said he gets a lot of calls for the same issue, and even if he fixes it, 2-3 years tops (which is what I got out of it before it died) before it will likely die again. I actually loved the TV...fantastic colors and brightness to my eyes and the price was great....but I don't want to throw money down a well.

Can anyone make me feel better about maybe the 5 or 6 series and their components? Not sure I trust the 4-series, after hearing how many people have had the same issue.

Except Android TV is slow and clunky. You'll have to deal with some of that even if you're using the roku stick.

Did you notice the brightness levels while you were checking out the specs. It's horrific. As long as you have this in a room with no light, you'll be fine.
Bottom line, a 75 inch TV for sub $600 is not going to be great. There's always going to be some concessions. If you factor in how long the set will last before it needs to be replaced, you're really not saving any money. But, you do have to suffer with a lower quality picture in the meantime.
