I have this TV from the last deal at this price. It's a great tv with 1 exception. It's not very bright. I tried it in our living room which is a little bright during the daytime. The only place to set up the TV was across the room from some windows. That condition made for a terrible experience for daytime TV watching. Unless we used room darkening shades it just wasn't worth it to have OLED. Night time it was great. So we relocated the TV to the basement and it awesome down there. With the lights on it's an average TV in the basement. With the lights off it's amazing. I love everything about this TV except for the brightness.

Seems to me if you do a lot of daytime TV watching OLED might not be worth the extra $$. However, night time movies are awesome.

No signs of burn in whatsoever.

This is a 2020 model. So it's basically 2 years old now. Not bad. I rather have the LG CX if you're talking about older model and those you can also find for $1500 new. My Costco had the display model LG 65C1 for $1300.

Anyone know how the HomeKit integration is on this model? According to Sony's website, the 2021 models are supported (natively?) but the 2020 models are supported through a built-in app. Is there actually any difference? Thanks!

No matter what you say at this point based on your comment, you are not a homeowner nor will you ever if you keep this train of thought with you.

Yep, I got the M2. On my Sony LED, power always goes to those ports, so it is on and off all of the time when the tv is off. Irritating. I know there is a switch but on my LG OLED it just turns off when the TV is off.

I see. We have that exact setting with light filtering in from many windows on both sides and skylight. Currently using x900h. Is that better than oled a80j for my setup? That way I can stop listing after that.. at least for this room Smilie

I have a super bright Sony LED with reflection handling, honestly if you are watching a dark scene with a lot of windows you are going to see reflections no matter what.

Bias lighting helps you to perceive deeper blacks and makes the transition between scenes that go from dark to bright easier on the eyes. But OLED has perfect blacks and with Dolby Vision it will tone map the HDR to match the brightness range of the TV. So if you lower the max brightness of the TV wouldn't that mean you do not need bias lighting for OLED?

No 120hz 4k gaming, doesn't have the great processor in it like the a80j. This one is really lacking.

The X900H does not have a very good anti-glare coating but it does have high brightness. While the A80J has a very good anti-glare coating but it does not get as bright as the X900H. So there is no clear winner between those two TVs for viewing in a sunny room with glare.

EDIT: The $1349.99 65" QN85A is arguably the best TV deal that you could buy right now, if you need to fight glare due to it's exceptionally high brightness combined with having one of the best anti-glare coatings in the industry.

See, this is what I thought before too. But, interestingly enough, I've found that my OLEDs still get bright enough that even the transitions between dark and bright scenes were a bit jarring. Certainly not as jarring as my bright LED TV, but enough to warrant a bias light, personally for me anyway.

Plus, regardless of OLEDs having perfect blacks, ironically they can still struggle with shadow detail because of this, so bias lighting still works to benefit you by helping you perceive better shadow detail without having to turn down the brightness on OLEDs, esp during transition from dark to bright scenes on HDR/DV content.

Lastly, I generally like bias lighting as a simple lighting solution during nighttime viewing, so that I won't have to turn on the lights in case i have to use the restroom, grab a drink, find the remote, etc, during the middle of a show/movie, very much akin to watching a movie at the theater, where there is ambient lighting all around.

I'm convinced you don't know what you are talking about. Having been a realtor for 15 years it happens all the time. People want and ask for homes with a fireplace. People buy new homes and resells with a fireplace on purpose and then use them a few times and never use them again. A seller would never remove a fireplace that would be the buyers responsibility after the sale unless the seller agreed to have it done and increased the sale price to cover the cost.

"No matter what you say... you are not a homeowner." I have owned a home for 29 years. I guess that says a lot about your train of thought.
