I have this TV from the last deal at this price. It's a great tv with 1 exception. It's not very bright. I tried it in our living room which is a little bright during the daytime. The only place to set up the TV was across the room from some windows. That condition made for a terrible experience for daytime TV watching. Unless we used room darkening shades it just wasn't worth it to have OLED. Night time it was great. So we relocated the TV to the basement and it awesome down there. With the lights on it's an average TV in the basement. With the lights off it's amazing. I love everything about this TV except for the brightness.

Seems to me if you do a lot of daytime TV watching OLED might not be worth the extra $$. However, night time movies are awesome.

No signs of burn in whatsoever.

This is a 2020 model. So it's basically 2 years old now. Not bad. I rather have the LG CX if you're talking about older model and those you can also find for $1500 new. My Costco had the display model LG 65C1 for $1300.

I returned my 65" A80j due to failed HomeKit & AirPlay connectivity. I called Sony and they said they were aware of this issue as many people have called it in. It's all over google as well.

So for current 4K enjoyment, that is perfectly fine. It is a January 7th, 2022 spec. I am not seeing HDR10+ as a spec though. Did Sony omit that?

You would be surprised. I'm out west. Also consider almost every new home with a fireplace including yours is because the buyer wanted it. Look around at how many homes in your area have a fireplace. I agree it is more of a want than a need and many people do not want one or do not care either way.

For those on the fence. I set up an X90J next to an A8H. After tweaking the settings it's amazing how close I could get with the X90J. I certainly could not the the deep blacks but man the rest is close. I did this in a dark room. In bright daylight the X90J wins. To be honest if they were not side by side I'd be super happy with either.

Well, I use HBO Max, Prime, and Apple TV+ mainly. I personally just noticed that with the external streaming devices that the picture just looks better all around than with the A8H's built in apps running the same apps. The external streaming devices (roku Apple TV) just seem to process and upscale the streaming apps much better for me than on the A8H's built in apps. Brightness, clarity etc. Maybe others have different experiences but that's just mine ?

I haven't had any other streaming devices to compare, but no question my Apple TV 4K has better streaming quality based on the bit rate it streams at compared to the built in apps.

Just bought mine today and was lucky enough to pick it up directly from BB warehouse locally. Box had an 11/2021 date on it, and S/N on unit itself is Dec, 2021. Maybe they're repacking like someone suggested? Or maybe due to covid related issues that slowed/closed manufacturing in a large part of 2020 they're just finishing assembling and pushing the last of this hardware out the door? Idk

Exactly also the CX is an overall much better tv. I owned this Sony.

I bought first the Sony A8H 65" (it's a beautiful high end tv), then a LG CX and finally a BX.

Sony A8H beautiful motion and processing but not as bright and poor for gaming as the input lag is too high and noticeable.

Lg Cx much brighter and overall perfect tv. I then bought a BX (on sale for $1500 65" like 8 months ago) The Bx is a little sluggish, but very bright with the settings adjusted and supports hdmi 2.1.

Personally for $1500 I would not buy the Sony A8H. I would look for a BX/CX or pay a couple hundred more and buy the LG C1

I would even recommend the Samsung QN90A , but recent prices for the 65" have it at $2000+ which is rather high.
