I have this TV from the last deal at this price. It's a great tv with 1 exception. It's not very bright. I tried it in our living room which is a little bright during the daytime. The only place to set up the TV was across the room from some windows. That condition made for a terrible experience for daytime TV watching. Unless we used room darkening shades it just wasn't worth it to have OLED. Night time it was great. So we relocated the TV to the basement and it awesome down there. With the lights on it's an average TV in the basement. With the lights off it's amazing. I love everything about this TV except for the brightness.

Seems to me if you do a lot of daytime TV watching OLED might not be worth the extra $$. However, night time movies are awesome.

No signs of burn in whatsoever.

This is a 2020 model. So it's basically 2 years old now. Not bad. I rather have the LG CX if you're talking about older model and those you can also find for $1500 new. My Costco had the display model LG 65C1 for $1300.

I don't see the power requirements listed on their website. I have a few 500mA USBs and 1 900mA on my tv.
Unfortunately, none of them work well enough to power it off when you turn the tv off, much to my chagrin. Here's the link in case you haven't come across it yet:

https://www.biaslighting.com/page...turned-off

To get around this, i had to plug it into my soundbar.

For those on the fence. I set up an X90J next to an A8H. After tweaking the settings it's amazing how close I could get with the X90J. I certainly could not the the deep blacks but man the rest is close. I did this in a dark room. In bright daylight the X90J wins. To be honest if they were not side by side I'd be super happy with either.
Now after reading your comment I'm convinced its X90J. I'm in market for 75" and will look for deals. If anyone knows any let me know.

I've heard so many times how they don't look good in a bright room. Never having had an oled, what does that mean? The light washes out the screen so you can barely see it?

Funny how people here are so critical of this tv when it's rated 5 stars overall by folks who bought one and reviewed them on bb. Really tough crowd. I'm tempted to get this and i'm not in the market for a new tv. Need to save my $1500 for a while.

Any benefit to HDMI 2.1 outside of gaming?

Use will be exclusively for sports/movies.
Not at the moment. Hdmi 2.0b is 18 gbps and plenty for streaming with atmos with 4K 60hz (most streaming service is 30 Hz). You'll need Xbox x or ps5 to need 48 gbps 4k120 Hz or if they ever make content for 8k (which is completely unnecessary bc your average human can't see any better detail than 4K at normal viewing distance). I have the previous model of this tv and it's fantastic. I also have a 4K projector with 130" screen from 11ft away and the picture is phenomenal. Even blown up that size 4K fills in all the detail without blurring. There is no need for 8k anything. It's a complete waste of internet bandwidth if it ever takes off.

I got this in the same deal in early December around Black Friday, and once you go OLED you can't go back. The picture quality is amazing. You'll also be happy with non-OLED, but watching high quality content on this is truly a treat

Dimmer room movie TV (regardless of the movie source).

I've got this, the same year LG and the Skyworth OLED. I use the Sony in the bedroom. It's by far the dimmest of the 3. It largely has the best picture processing and color accuracy.

I think the best use for this one is in a light controlled or dimmer room but it's picture processing is better so if you watch say a lot of older lower quality DVDs and such they look far better. It's color accuracy uncalibrated is much more accurate.

The LG and Skyworth are way brighter and give way more dynamic pop with HDR content.

I've had it quite a while now and had no issues whatsoever.

Just curious how many people is actually using the HDMI2.1 features daily?
HDMI 2.1 looks good on paper but as it is not easy to find the quality content in 4K@120Hz, this doesn't seem to be a blocker.

No, you can certainly see it but it's just not as bright. Especially in dark scenes. If you go from a bright LED in a bright room to this OLED in the same room you might be disappointed. My GF couldn't tell the difference where I could. So it might just be how finicky you are? To be honest, if I didn't do a side by side comparison maybe I would not have noticed either?

I'd sum it up this way. This A8H looks good in a bright room, however, it looks awesome in a dark room.

I'm critical of the brightness in a bright room but I'd still give it 5 stars. It's performance in a light controlled/dark room far out weighs that one weakness.

My brother picked up an open box A8H last night for $1,035 at BB. Appears to be in pretty good condition. Some scratches on the back where it looks like someone struggled to wall mount it. Finger and hand prints on the screen. According to the diagnostics it only has 42 hours. Made in October 2021. I'd call that a bargain.

i'd think curtains or cheap blinds could remedy that for the most part during the day. i guess i'm not so finicky too since i have a low end hisence.

Agreed. We're in a wooded area with a pond. My GF won't install anything that blocks the view.

Your "nope" is not quite true. Dynamic HDR and eARC are both enabled by 2.1 standard. Dynamic HDR is a not-insignificant improvement to PQ.
Do things like HDR and Dynamic HDR make a difference on streamed Netflix movies, etc? My TV isn't HDR so can't tell.

For example I paid for the high-res Netflix streaming and couldn't tell the difference. A Blu-Ray still looks better to my eyes, not even a 4K Blu-Ray.
