I am still deciding to buy this. So asking this question

Why do you need more than 2 HDMI ports for a monitor?

If your computer only has a Displayport output, HDMI-only is a problem. One of my wife's computers is using a Displayport-to-HDMI converter for a 1440p monitor, and you can see some weird vertical lines in the image. It's kind of annoying. Not sure if all converters do this, but the one we have does.
interesting i never heard of this.

can anyone confirm?

I'm using a DVI to HDMI adapter from my PC and a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter from my MacBook and I have no issues. (HDMI goes to my 4K TV)

However it is important to note that if you are using a Nvidia GPU you will not be able to use VRR

Seems like a great monitor for the price for work/school use, if you don't need 4k and are ok with 1440p. The non-Costco version of this has some great reviews on Amazon. 4.7/5 on 3k+ reviews:

If you want to connect to multiple monitors and your laptop has 1 hdmi, 1 display port and 1 vga port then you have a problem. I have heard of hdmi splitters, but want to avoid using them. I am not an expert on this, others can chime in.
display port to HDMI is a pretty easy conversion and the converters are cheap. This is only a 1440p monitor so it will be easy to get a cheap converter. If it was 4K 60hz or higher then you just have to be careful with HDMI that your converter, cable and laptop port all support the newer HDMI standards.

Its not supposed to, the converter should use minimal electronics if any in it. But you have 4 things (the monitor, the computer, the cable, the convertor) that all need to support the resolution/data rates. If one of those doesnt fully support or is faulty then you have issues. So being able to go displayport directly removes 1 of those 4 items, with a lot less chance you run into problems.

The higher the resolutions you are running the more chance you run into a problem, there has been so many HDMI revisions over the years. 1080p would be least likely to have a problem. Best bet is to change to 1080p see if the problem goes away and then look around online reading the reviews of different convertors to find a good one that supports 1440p.

you can change the scale of text and other in the os setting.
in theory, more pixels per character makes text look shareper.
but i mostly use monitor for image and video.
for reading text, i use an eink display.

note:
not everything will scale well to 4k, as some icons or interface is designed for 1080 only. but as 4k become the norm, hopefully more updates to follow.

also,
at 32 inch, i expect resolution to be 4k.
anything less will make text look pixelated.

Meh, I've been running a 1440p 32" monitor for the last 7+ years. It looks very sharp to me in native resolution. I don't need a 32" to be 4k, especially when running duals. OTOH, for 40" 4k is a must.

So the random good deal you are quoting, but just 40% larger and 20% cheaper.

Good deal. About the lowest I ever see a 32" 1440p monitors go, so inflation has not taken hold everywhere yet. Picked up two for the office. Pixel count is very acceptable, the same density as a 24" 1080P monitor.

Overall, is this a good choice for home office use or overkill? Seems great to me, but my knowledge on this stuff is very limited. Planning on dual monitor setup. Thanks in advance for any help.
