The higher the resolutions you are running the more chance you run into a problem, there has been so many HDMI revisions over the years. 1080p would be least likely to have a problem. Best bet is to change to 1080p see if the problem goes away and then look around online reading the reviews of different convertors to find a good one that supports 1440p.
in theory, more pixels per character makes text look shareper.
but i mostly use monitor for image and video.
for reading text, i use an eink display.
note:
not everything will scale well to 4k, as some icons or interface is designed for 1080 only. but as 4k become the norm, hopefully more updates to follow.
also,
at 32 inch, i expect resolution to be 4k.
anything less will make text look pixelated.

Good deal. About the lowest I ever see a 32" 1440p monitors go, so inflation has not taken hold everywhere yet. Picked up two for the office. Pixel count is very acceptable, the same density as a 24" 1080P monitor.
