$500 BYOD Device to Verizon now at Costco

+3 Deal Score

I was in Costco and from 1-20-22 to 1-26-22 receive $500 per line rebate when bringing your device to Verizon. This deal has been around a while but with Costco you are not required to pay activation fee. So for 4 lines I will receive $2000 in Verizon gift cards and no activation fees. Read the fine print for details.

I just took the connection at Costco, but VZ charged me 35$activtion fee. so its not free for VZ. Costco wireless team told me, only activation is waived for ATT and T-Mobile

Anyone knows how bill credit works I.e. if I fully pay off the device, does bill credit stops? Or it will continue?

Basically I want to buy new device and still continue getting the bill credit

I received my eGift cards today from Verizon. I switched over on 12/22/2021 and activated my devices on 12/24/21.
These eCards are only for Verizon purchases. I cannot even auto pay the bill with them... Which is PITA! I would need to wait for the bill with a >$0 balance and go in to pay using the egift card. Worse, this pay method is only available on the phone app and it does not allow me to pay more than the balance. I was about to pay for a few months so I don't have to go back for a while but it does not allow the amount entered to be larger than the due amount.....

With 4 lines here is how it breaks down to
My first bill was $352.48 (activation + bill of the first month without auto pay)
My second bill was 111.20 (bill of the second month with auto pay and the credit back for the previous month auto pay). I apply for auto pay after I got the account setup.
After that my will will be about $152-$153/month
So basically I pay out of my pocket about $463.68
With $2000 credit, I can pay for about 13 months more. so basically you I will stay with them for 15 months minimal and pay $463.68 if I do everything right. That is $30/month ($463.68/15) for 4 lines :-)

I did this deal last year. You just need to go in store and have them apply the gift card amounts to your account. I tried to do it online as well when we received ours and had the same issue. Talked to Verizon CS and they told me what to do.

Are you on the unlimited 5g start plan? Is that plan eligible for the byod promo?

When I did it, I was able to select the 4 lines for $40/month a line or $35/month a line with autopay. (It was saying this "Select any Unlimited plan")

I go back and read the current promotion and it says "Select 5G Do More, 5G Play More or a 5G Get More Unlimited plan"

You will need to read their ads carefully. Verizon wireless customer has become so bad nowadays so you will have a hard time trying to reach customer service over the phone if there is a mistake especially on your side. If you follow the instructions correctly, the computer is not likely or hopefully does not pull some trick on you.

Remember NOT to take the sim cards out and put to use it on a different phone in the first 46 days after you activate the new lines with Verizon.

I did that with 1 of the 5 lines I had, this is 2-3 years ago, and when I switched to a different vendor a year later, they wanted to charge me back the credit of the whole amount for 5 lines. It was very silly as if the computer wants to charge back, then it should have been for the amount of 1 line that I made that mistake instead of all 5 lines right? Worse, the customer service people I dealt with would find all excuses to make I pay for the charge back. It was a night mare to deal with those guys back then. Now with the current customer service, it will be 10 times worse.

For anyone considering doing urlhasbeenblocked cashback, don't. They blatantly deny that the transaction has been registered even after showing them evidence of the transactions (registered clicks through my urlhasbeenblocked account with timestamp several times before placing the order). I had also oened a ticket for missing cashback notification right after placing the order. They "credited" me the missing cashback only to report as an investigation is being made. But from the replies they gave when I enquired about it twice, I could tell what was coming. Sure enough, in two weeks, they revoked the cashback they credited to my account and blamed it on verizon. Ha!

I always use a cashback site and have had only good experiences. This is my first time with urlhasbeenblocked and I won't be shopping through them anytime soon. Just thought of warning others here. Even if you get a lower cash back than $75 per line (that urlhasbeenblocked claims to give) take that instead.

Yeah, that's why I went through them too.
I was surprised at how they just said Verizon rejected the claim and so it's done. No explanation when I asked why two of the ported lines got rejected and one didn't, all a part of the same transaction.

Anyway, just thought of sharing my experience with them to set expectations.

I tried in a store today and they wouldn't do it. They said I can do it on verizon website. But there is no option to pre-pay the balance using Verizon on GC on their website.

If you could, what did you do/say to get the store apply the GC amounts (I have multiple $500 GCs from the rebate) to your account balance.

Ideal thing to do is to apply all the GC amounts to your account so that it will sit negative and will automatically subtract the negative amount each month.

Thanks in advance.
