The P9 P65Q9-J01 looks like a LOT more TV for $899.99.

120hz Refresh Rate (Dynamic Motion Rate 240)
1200 nits
210 local dimming zones
https://www.vizio.com/en/tv/p-series/P65Q9-J01

Compared to this M7 with 32 dimming zones at 60hz and 700 nits, the latter is likely/partially why people complain about the HDR being dark. The 120hz works better with 24 fps which a bit of movies tend to be in (120/24=5 which doesn't make for partial frames like 60/24 does).

My experiences: My 2019 M8 (M658-G1) has 90 dimming zones, 60hz, and is 600 nits and could definetly be a lot brighter, movies with lots of dark scenes I often choose to watch in SDR mode. While the M7 is 17% brighter, I think having a third less zones might be a wash. I think in 2019 when I was looking at the P9, it was more like $1100 or $1200 and so then I was looking at the 75" for $1600-ish. I decided to go with the M8 for $600 and wait a few years for the tech to get cheaper for the bigger models.

If all you have is $600, then this isn't an option, but if you're comparing between the two and have the $900, it's got a lot of benefits. If I could pay $300 to upgrade mine, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
Here is rting's review

Says this VA panel has good contrast and freesync but poor local dimming.

Costco says this has hdmi 2.1 and 60 Hz refresh.

Great display for the price, buggy and below average UI for the smartTV component imo

Both the $600 U6G and $600 U6GR are better than this $600 Vizio M7 Series Quantum 2021 in every category. Therefore, Vizio has to lower the price to make their M7 even worth considering.
I thought the same thing reading the reviews on rtings.com However, in store at best buy, the M7 looked better to me compared to the Hisense U6. U6 is brighter but the colors seem washed out.

Way better tho. I have the p65 series and its probably the best TV i have own by far.
its amazing how much praise that new Hisense is getting with the 120hz. i dont need a new tv except for the 120hz and the newer consoles i have. i am really tempted to replace my vizio v series with it.
