This is with bestbuy, so no bill credit involved, it's instant trade in value that deducts from the sale price, and tax is on the deducted selling price too. Don't mislead others.

ATT is $100 cheaper further. $500 for mini and $600 for regular. But trade in values are horrible.

T-Mo is still the best in value overall.

Yes, you can and should do this.

Best Buy iPhone's have flex policy, which locks the iPhone to the first USA carrier sim that was inserted. If you insert an AT&T sim, the iPhone locks to AT&T.

SDers here are very interested to know if the AT&T unlock portal still works to immediately unlock for these fully paid off Best Buy iPhones, regardless if you are an AT&T customer or not. Several have claimed that it no longer works, and now their iPhones are locked to AT&T. For you, since you are an AT&T customer anyways, it would be immensely helpful if you can confirm whether the unlock portal still works for non-AT&Ters.

The AT&T unlock portal instructions from the wiki. Ideally, you would try with an inactive AT&T sim like us non-AT&Ters, but if you can't get one, use your current AT&T sim.
  • Get an ATT sim card.
You can go to a local Apple store and ask for a new ATT sim card. Users reported: I visited my local Apple store and asked for an AT&T not activated SIM card. They ordered one on their iPad and a few minutes later they handed it to me. They didn't ask for any personal or iPhone information.
You can also order one for $2 plus tax from the Microsoft store if you don't have an Apple store nearby or it's not worth the gas: https:// www. microsoft.com/en-us/d/at-t-sim-card/8n0scjxn845k
    (Remove spaces!)
  • Put the SIM card into your new Best Buy iPhone and go through the activation process and connect to WIFI. The iPhone will then state under settings that it's carrier locked.
  • Go to the ATT unlock page: https:// www. att. com/deviceunlock/unlockstep1
(Copy, paste and remove spaces as we don't want to send a lot of slickdeals referrers to this page)
  • Select "No" for "Are you an AT&T wireless customer?"
  • Enter the IMEI into the field. You can get the IMEI under settings or dial *#06# on your iPhone to bring up device information.
  • Go to the next step and enter your personal information. The email needs to be valid as ATT will send a confirmation email to this address.
  • If everything is correct, wait for the confirmation email and click on the link to confirm the request. Note: Use it within 24 hours or ATT will cancel your request.

Just now: AT&T SIM card is currently not available.

I got the iPhone promo from last Black Friday. I called 3 day later after inserting the sim card to have it show in their system. I called cs and I told them I was going on a long trip outside of the country for a couple of months and that I needed it unlocked as soon as possible. The rep got it unlocked a few hours after I called. For new customers, there was something called buyers remorse where you can use the service and call to cancel service within 30 days of activation to get a full refund. I don't know if buyers remorse still exists but I found this https://www.t-mobile.com/responsi...urn-policy

Apparently you only have 20 days to return/cancel activations and get a full refund if you are a new customer.
thanks

Does this work on t-mobile prepaid connect $15/month plan?
No prepaid. Call TMobile or go to the store. If the deal ends on Jan 30, there's still time to get the $20 postpaid line

So I have grandfather one plan for T-Mobile. Best Buy is saying I need to change plan to magenta or magenta max to trade in. If I change plan now between cycle , I will be charged double for monthly payment . Any solution for this ?
Appreciate all help
I have T-Mobile ONE plan and last month I was able to trade-in two iPhones at Best Buy and upgrade to iPhone 13 models with NO plan change required. I'm doing another later today - order is ready for pickup; I'll update this thread with any BAD news, but I don't expect any trouble. Did you pre-arrange the whole transaction on-line at Best Buy's website? That's the most successful route - if the system accepts the order then everything should proceed smoothly in-store once your order is ready. I think many Best Buy store personnel are still confused about the T-Mobile processes and that can lead to them sharing erroneous information ...

Do the original account owner need to be there? My friend is the owner and he is not able to call TMobile from India to add me as an authorized user for trade in.
You'll need the account owner's ID at the store since it's his/her order. I suggest you bring your drivers license just in case.

That MIGHT be the issue. Technically you did not complete the transaction.

I tried with a line that I did before and I get the same error that you received. I don't remember if I activated the new sim. I don't think I did.

Don't take my theory as 100%, it's just an observation
That's a very valid point. Thanks. I will look into it. Cheers!

What you see as a customer is a limited and narrow peak into BB's order management system. Somewhere in the system your account has an active order associated with that phone number.

Again, if you want to take advantage of the deal, your best bet would be to buy in person or use a different T-mobile number.
Ok thanks. I hope I can buy it in store but there's no 256 GB silver 13 pro max in NJ that I could find. Frown

I hope they fix the trade in value of XS max. I have 2 sitting with me, even XS has higher trade in value than XS max.

Does Best Buy hold the item until the end of the day? If I buy today, it says it will be held until the 31st. Does that mean I can go on the 31st in the evening?

I wouldn't go late evening on the very last day. It can be busy that night and the mobile department 'closes' earlier than Best Buy. Don't be that guy

Refresh daily and hourly. Back when this deal was available October - November, I remember refreshing early mornings and stock would show up here and there.
