The "R" versions of these TVs can't scale 480p content properly, and it looks blurry.

Did not chat or call.
I also used this link to submit a price adjustment request. haven't heard from them in a week. Will try calling on Monday and if a no-go, will probably return it at store.

If you're watching 480 in 2022, I honestly just feel bad for you.
if you're watching movies or tv shows from before like 2000 they're mostly 480. movies from before the late 90's that aren't remastered are 480. 480 might actually still be the most common format if you consider all movies and tv shows in existence. i'm not arguing that most people watch that older content, but some people do.

I guess on dvd or vhs, but the streaming services/cable providers have all updated that on their platforms and many are "enhanced" or redone for better quality.

amazon prime doesn't upconvert sd content to hd. that would be a waste of bandwidth. they stream at whatever quality the source content is.

Gotcha. Well I'm on a family account and don't really watch tv, so everyone enjoy the new price hike for dude to take space trips. Meanwhile greasy burger joints pay more here than warehouse workers because people are done being shit on.

Power to the workers.

Would this be a good tv to put on a covered outdoor porch? I want between 50-60" and don't want to pay more than $500. Porch is on the water on a lake so bright with lots of reflection which is why I'm thinking this might be good. Rtings says it gets bright and good reflection handling and good price. And of course, Costco.

I'd be streaming almost exclusively and occasionallly watching cable/football games

Thanks for your help.

I have a 55 inch next to the patio door and it's not very bright TBH. Maybe the 65 will be better because it has more dimming zones and can get up to 1000 nits but in case you're wondering about the 55. It won't be good for that area
