The 22 inch steel griddle, by itself, weighs 21 lbs. Now add the base and hood inside that carrying case. It's going to be very heavy.

Is this another YMMV deal again that only 10% of us can replicate?

If anyone is wondering if a 22" is too small, i cook for 5 including myself. I only cook 2 things at a time, one on each half. For me it's perfectly fine. But i know for others with a bigger family it wouldn't. If that doesn't bother you i definitely recommend this size. I had to reseason 3 times before getting it right.

Open tank valve slowly so you get good gas flow. Set burners on High. Apply a light cost of oil. When oil stops smoking reapply another thin coat of oil. Repeat 3-4 times.

Seasoning is not that difficult. I have a 22 and 36 inch, only had to do a initial seasoning once. Instructions are in the manual. Or watch this rep at Blackstone do it.

As for capacity the 22" can hold an entire package of Oscar Meyer bacon. A dozen 3 oz smash burgers. 8 fair size pancakes.

What type of oil you use for seasoning? Often people say flaxseed is the best, but you will have as many that recommend against it. I used it as my base coat (5-6 layers) and it's held up for three years now with an added layer or two each year. I also put a super thin layer on after each cook.
I've read that grapeseed works better as it has a higher smoke point than flaxseed. It's also cheaper and doesn't go bad as quick. Canola is a good option as well.
