Epic is relatively new game launcher in comparison to steam which has a long history with gamers and many loyal to it. While I hate need 5 different launchers now for various videogames, steam did have a monopoly basically so it's still a good thing. Epic is clunky and buying games can get glitchy but the do have amazing deals. Steam has achievements, community, forums and reviews which still make it better if you're into community aspect. Family share feature on steam prob why I like it more because over 9 years my boyfriend and I have accumulated many games, and can easily share games the other doesn't have. I've been gaming since the SNES days so I don't really have loyalty to any company in particular as I have loved and hated games from many. Steam on a multiplayer/friend basis is easier but I'm sure epic and other launchers will catch up or link up to steam.
I for one just want a good deal, why I'm 2 years late to almost every game title except Resident Evil (only game other than Nintendo games I buy at full price) . And epic has been amazing with deals and free games past year so my only complaint is the store aspect needs some glitch fixes and would be nice to have a community or least discord support (their games don't show up on discord as so and so playing this game). I ended up buying most my games this year during winter sale on epic because they were ridiculous deals and they are giving steam real competition now. I can't say the same for other launchers or eh.. hem Microsoft store... (2 Microsoft only PC games crashed my windows twice GOW4 was a nightmare download and breaks your windows if you try to uninstall it..).
Steam may always have the upper hand as it's older and more refined but the competition is good and who knows maybe one of the other launchers will succeed beyond steam one day. I have my gripe with every launcher including blizzard lol but all in all they all have a merit or two... Except you Microsoft... Blue screening my desktop because your 150gigabyte game won't install properly and uninstalling it registered as tampering with Microsoft permissions B's...

What a wonderful explanation. Thank you much! I'm overwhelmed with launchers too with gog, Rockstar, epic, origin, steam, blizzard….
But I've been using epic more only because Of better deals too.
GTFO is actually a super interesting game. Slight horror genre, team based, lots of spooky dark areas to clear. Be sure to watch a couple of videos before deciding.

Sorry for the ever increasing backlog of games. I will likely be dead before ever playing all of these games to their completion.

I might buy few boxes just to give people who get on my nerves and tell them "go play this game"😏
For less than $3 extra you can get Death Standing on Steam.
Why is steam better?
